Re: Gas Gauge - WAY Full?

ok so now that ive sat down a thought about it there's no way i could get anywhere close to an accurate calculation sitting at my comp (i dont have anywhere near the amount of data needed), however in extremely general cases (assuming acceleration is constant; which its not) i found that the difference in the accelerations with the two weights is .005 m/s*s or .011 mi/hr*hr. which is needless to say, way off. there's a ton of variables involved such as: power to wheels, driveline power loss, tire size, wheel size, acceleration, actual vehicle weight, and the like.

using pure intuition im gonna conclude: it doesnt matter. on the street, the occasional romp to the track, or just daily drivin the difference is insignificant. in serious drag applications where every pound matters it would make a huge difference, but generally dont concern yourself.

final opinion: traction wins out, fill 'er up

Re: Gas Gauge - WAY Full?

yeah you would be better off losing 10 pound yourself than losing a 1/4 tank.....

Re: Gas Gauge - WAY Full?

Well in the camaro i am driving now, I can get about a 1/4 of a tank above full, and when i get to about 1/6 a tank I run out.... took me 2 times walking to get gas to finally find out were she runs out of gas... but I still love her :o) (but if i have to walk to get gas again... i will poor it on top of the car, instead of in it. if u know what i mean.)
