Re: Well, guys...I'm finally getting "sprayed"....

hey whatever gets your jollies off man. Ive been against N02 for a long time, but lately im starting to see its good points. Ive been looking into N02 for my car, i was thinking about a 35 dry shot. My car with the charger runs pretty rich stock, so i think i will be fine with a small shot, just something to get me into the 13's.

I can pretty much beat anything in my area, but there are times when the tires cut loose on me, and I need that extra kick in the pants to put me back ahead. Basically, I won't be spraying it alot, it's really there "just in case". Besides, I've still got awhile to change my mind and sell the kit to my buddy, if I want to stay "pure". Only time and my next trip to the track will tell. I'll keep you guys updated.
Ah man don't let a bunch of people on some message board talk ya out of spraying! You seem to be smart about these kind of things, and nitrous is fine when you do it right.

Its the people that go overboard with high compression engines and non-forged internals that end up with destroyed engines!

So if you go that route, be sure and be smart about it (which I'm sure you will be).

Good luck with it though! And don't get too fast now, I'd hate to think a street truck would be able to keep up with my race car!

I think there is a chance on getting the 11s without spray. My rearend goes in this week, and I'll actually get to launch the truck above idle. I think with the addition of the underdrive pullies, the recent weight reduction of about 200lbs, and a nice 1400-1500rpm launch, I should be really close.

I don't think you'll ever have anything to worry about me getting that fast. You're right on the safety factor. I'm in no hurry to mess up this motor because I was irrespondsible with the nitrous setup. I'm going to do alot of data logging and tuning to get it just right and not have me losing sleep at night.

Lol. That is one super nice truck though, lol.

I bet the look on Vette/Camaro/Mustang/GTO drivers is priceless when you start walking away from them!

Just a reminder if you run 11s without a roll cage (it might just be only a roll bar) you will be kicked out.

LOL. Yeah, I'd say it is! They no doubt think you're just another truck with loud exhaust that wants to be fast, lol.

Neutrino is right too about the roll cage deal. But you probably already know this. What is the cut off for a roll bar anyways, 11.50?

For that matter, what is the cut off for having to have a parachute? Is it below 9.99, or is it higher?

I don't know about the shoot(never have to worry about it! ), but most tracks will not let me get away with an 11 without the cage. I've already found a guy to make my cage, and we've already taken several measurements and decided on what routes we're going to have to take to make it all work. It's alot of damn work making a cage work in these trucks!!!!

I'd say it is alot of work, lol. But man it will look sweet, especially if you pad it when like a grey or black padding, to match your interior.

I guess you're getting fast enough to have to have 5-point belts (that would be the kicker for me I'd say at a 1/4-track, not that I could run a 1/4 with the way its set up, but I only have 4-point belts-and I'm pretty sure its 9.99 and below that requires a chute, and I'd probably only run 10.20-10.50).

I remember seeing the pics of your new racing seats, but I cant remember what kind of belts you had.

I have a 4-point setup right now. I ordered the 5-points, but didn't mount the middle belt yet. I went with the R.J.S setup, and I love it so far.

Right. I actually think mine are 5-point as well without the middle belt mounted, but either way, mine are way out dated, lol. That'll be one of the first things I do when I get out of school, get new belts so its legal to run at any track.

And you know, I'm not sure of the brand, but that R.J.S sounds familiar, lol (my uncle built this car when I was too young to really keep up with these things, lol).

Well since you'll be able to launch at a higher RPM, then you will no doubt knock a tenth or two off your time (provided you can hook up at a higher RPM). I only launch at 3400 RPMs, where most people in my class launch well above 4000. My uncle launches his new car as high as the converter will stall! But anything over 3800 RPMs in mine will just cuase nothing but trouble. The front wheels go up (more) and its just impossible to drive. I tried it at 3600 RPMs this season, and all it did was make it feel like it left harder, and throw my reaction times way off. We used to launch it at liek 4400 or 4200, but that was with a 355. When we switched to 406s, we had to cut it way down.

I don't understand why everyone is against nitrous, fast is fast, I don't care how you do it

Anyway, as someone else stated, you don't need a rollbar now until 11.49 or faster, so go for it! I'm not familiar with the GM 6.0, but I know our 5.9's can handle a 150 shot safely (with good gas and pulling some timing to be safe). Probably good to start small like you said, 75-100 shot and go from there. And I know exactly how you feel, when I started out I said I wanted solid 12's, then I hit low 12's and said might as well go for 11's, now I have high 11's and I want mid 11's, it never ends!

Thanks I'm having withdrawals tho, truck has been down since November, waiting on my new shortblock. Should be back on the road by the end of Feb, early March at the latest, gotta have boost again!!! My Jeep is great in the snow and gets better gas mileage, but just can't compete with the boost, gotta have it!!! I don't know if enthusiast is the right term tho, more like addict, junkie

Hi, I'm Dave, I'm a boost junkie
