Re: Progress: 2003 Peugeot 206 WRC Rally of Turkey G/H Panizzi

more worried about painting as I already got some layers on the dash, but perhaps the joint won't be as visible as a dash that isn't reaching the tunnel...

Bad luck about the dash, but thanks for bringing it to our attention. Could you make a spacer to plug the gap or something, without having to modify and repaint the dash itself?

Re: Progress: 2003 Peugeot 206 WRC Rally of Turkey G/H Panizzi

Started decalling the body today, which is allways fun. A bad thing about the Renaissance decals are that the big "sketched" 206 decal on the roof is whit instead of yellow (see my thread here http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=236322 ) I've tried to print my own yellow copy but it turnes out like shit every time so I guess I'll go with the white one. But it hurts though...

Re: Progress: 2003 Peugeot 206 WRC Rally of Turkey G/H Panizzi

Getting allmost done with the decals on the body. The Renaissance decals are quite easy to work with. The quality is high and they conform pretty easy. White areas are totally opaque and don't let any of the red (in my case) shine through. Unfortunately I've had some pretty bad silvering effects on the transparant carriage film. Of coarse this is mostly due to the underlaying surface but I would anyhow like advise others to trim the excess. Size has bin a slight problem, some of the decals don't have that tight fit that you want. Mostly visible this will be on the roof number decal where the arials will have to be put through the decal...
best regards

Hi Joel!
You could try with future (Johnson klar) as a decal glue, wash away most of the original glue and apply a suitable dab of future and put the decal on it. Get rid of the excess and....voila! No silvering as the future will take care of the trapped air problem. At least it works great on smaller decals on airplanes, but it should work wonders even on a car.

A bit late now Niclas ;-) But I'll remember it for "future" projects.

You can also hunt down the silvering with a really sharp knife and Micro Sol. Just make a lot of tiny punctures on the decal and apply Sol, you might have to do this more then once. Eventually you'll get rid of the silvering, I managed that on an aircraft of mine before I discovered the Future solution....hmm, come to think of it, I used that trick on my DTM Mercedes to. The one you saw at 'Open last year and it worked like a charm.

I'll try it...talking about Open, if it doesn't work, atleast you don't have to see this one as a contender ;-) (How about your promised bike by the way?)

Errrh!?...bike...what bike?
Naaah...just kidding. Well, the bike as most of my modeling is on a halt at the moment. Thought I'd have more time than I actually did. We'll see what I can do, but don't have to high hopes for it. Two kids take more time then one can imagine. At least I managed to get the Impala finished for my father at christmas. I'm looking forward to see this one finished, it's looking damn good IMO.

Have a nice day!

time for some updates

so, as I wrote above, I did some decalling on the body shell last week and here are some pics. I have not yet added the large yellow bonnet decal and the grey-yellow-white "feathers" on each side. This is cause I have to add the Sakatsu rivets that will replace the molded ones. Unfortunately I applied the "Peugeot financial services" decals over the side protection without thinking of this, ending up cover two of the rivet holes of the side protection plates...
Several decals left some bad silvering effects wich I'm working on. The roof number decals is too big, it covers the arial mounting holes and that will not look good.

Enough words and over to some pics;

The number decal is supposed to be a bit off, I do regret applying it before clear coating though...Would have looked better with them applied on top.

The yellow markings around the rear lights are really awful, they are too wide and I'm doing some serious thinking of replacing them in some way.

best regards
Joel

Re: Progress: 2003 Peugeot 206 WRC Rally of Turkey G/H Panizzi

I need some hints on the racing harness configuration. Are the belt clips that comes from left and right two ends of the same belt? E.g is it one belt that goes from left to right on the lower back side of the seat or is it two separate belts that attach to each side of the seat? Understandable?

Re: Progress: 2003 Peugeot 206 WRC Rally of Turkey G/H Panizzi

Masked and painted the windows yesterday. It went really good except one little spot where the paint leaked under the mask. It was just in the middle of the front window and it seems hard to clean up. WIll probably strip the paint and redo the front. Anyone that know if it's any problems involved in stripping the acrylic paint from the clear plastic?
Also working on the last decals on the body and attaching the rivets.
