Both good ideas.

Don't ignore the possibility that someone did something to your dog, and be on the lookout.

Couple thoughts; seems from your post that the other dogs are all ok; if that's the case, try letting Mercedes out alone, and watch to see what happens.

Re: Something very strange is going on

They're coming Kustm , the war of the worlds........THEY'RE COMING.....PREPARE! THE WARNINGS HAVE BEEN SHOWN!

J/k. I think a way to investigate is follow her when you let her out, but be prepared to defend yourself. Also, do you have any neighbors? If you have a decent relationship with them ask them to watch their lawns for your dog. Or, maybe one of your neighbors can be doing something to your dog, which is punishable under law. The best is to study your dog's reactions, and what exactly it does whenever you can, and to also study your other two dogs, and make sure that they don't start to act similar. BUt if none of the things add up, I might sound crazy about this but I'm serious, consult haunted house and paranormal activists and specialists. Dogs have reall strong senses, and can detect things that we can't as I'm sure all of you have heard once before. You're house or property may have paranormal activity. Who knows.

Re: Something very strange is going on

^^^^^ after I found the pellet I did the walk thing and my dog would just not go In veiw of a neibors house so im pretty sure it had something to do with them, especially since they are the "wild ones" in the area. Ill bet something happened to your dog and it was unable to defend itself so its natural instinic is to be afraid until it knows the threat is gone, perhaps if you take the dog on a walk, having you there will help the dog realize there is nothing to be afraid of. If that fails, maybe take all the dogs for a walk together and go hunting for the source of the problem. Hopefully the other dogs will pick up on Mercedes fear and help point you in the right direction. Wild dogs hunt in packs because (Im told, Im not a animal phycologist ) they feel safer in larger numbers. Hopefully that will help.

Re: Something very strange is going on

I tried raising my hand to her, like I was going to hit her, and no reaction. I dont think there is even the slightest chance that any of my neighbors would hit her, or do anything to her. Not only would they have no reason to, we have really good neighbors. And none of the "bad eggs" in the neighborhood. The only time shes out front is when we take her for a walk, and then my parents and both other dogs are with her. So I dont think anyone hit her or anything.

I looked her over pretty well, and I cant find any injuries.

Ive walked around the backyard with her, and if I dont carry her, she wont go off the porch. And she wont even go out by herself. When she does go out without someone, its only with the other dogs, and then she tunrs around right away and runs inside.

The ghost thing is kinda freaking me out though...I need some glasses like in 13 Ghosts. Good thing is though, she has quieted down a bit. That piercing whining is really getting on my nerves.

Re: Something very strange is going on

Try letting her out in the front yard and see if she freaks out, is shes fine out in the front then something happened in the back and you should be looking for clues, strange animal track or fur along the fence line perhaps

Re: Something very strange is going on

Sounds to me as though your dog was just spooked real good. Seriously take her to a vet have her checked out. She may have been surprised by another animal and was just being harassed by it. I know my dog gets flipped off all the time by some frigging cat that likes to tease her. And every now and then my dog (Half aussie shepard, half dalmatian mix) will start crying for no reason, bark a few times then run inside and just start crying, and all this starts while I am out on the porch enjoyin a camel light smoke. Go figure!

We have yet to know why she does this, but there again, there are a bunch of kids in the neighborhood, and a nearby grade school. Anything is possible with those little fuckers!

Re: Something very strange is going on

Dude your house might be haunted. No really, i saw a show that was about ghosts and stuff. On that show they had a little girl that could see ghosts that others couldn't, but the funny thing was was that the dog saw this 'person' too...creepy.

Re: Something very strange is going on

Im not really one to be too into the whole supernatural thing however at my friends old riverhouse that had been in his family for years it does have something inside of it. Sometimes you can hear someone hammering in the upstairs that was never finished, but only when your outside by the dock. Also my friends dog one night woke us up barking at the wall, his dog never does anything like that. And afterwards the dog wouldnt go back into the house, we had to stay in the guesthouse behind it. So I think he saw a ghost. You might want to take your dog to a friends house and see how she acts over there. Just a thought.

Re: Something very strange is going on

maybe your dog is a skitzo? or i could be narcalepstic (however its spelled), maybe it got bit by another animal and has a pinched nerve. Maybe your house is haunted. Sometimes i think my house was haunted, just before we moved in the wife died in the house. Maybe a month before we moved in. We hear all kinds of freaky things, people walking around, boxes in the basement getting slid across the tile floor. When we had a dog, it was petrified to go into the basement. It would just sit at the top of the stairs and wait for us if we went down their. If you tried to carry or push the dog down he would start barking and fight to get away.

great advice.

Did you check your dogs fuses? Any wires loose? Maybe shes scared, maybe a walk around the block would be good for her while you beat up all the other canines in the hood so your dog will feel safe. Just an idea.

Re: Something very strange is going on

Everyone's missing the point that if it were a ghost, the other dogs would be acting strangely also. AND, dogs usually growl, not cower, when they see a ghost.

Man, what a crap! Are you serious abot that ghost thing?
This is a scared dog. It may have been hit by someone, it may have seen an animal, a snake or something. It may simply have gone crazy. Take it to the vet and stop consdering ghostly nonsense, OK?
