Re: New car...need opinions
Isn't Saturn a GM product. I'm sure you can find a nice Saturn LS for cheap that would get decent gas mileage. I like the Cobalt too.

Re: New car...need opinions
I'm not a big fan or Saturns. They just don't look good to me.

Re: New car...need opinions
I think the new civics are decent looking. I wouldn't mind putting a nice B series in a totally stock in appearance new civic (not sure if motor mounts are same if they went to K style or not...).
Saturns are decent cars for daily driving and I think the ones prior to the new bubbly Ion style (VW passat or Nissan Altima/Maxima rip off!) are ok... IMO.

Re: New car...need opinions
My parents just bought me a little saturn. And my dads saturn, and my girlfriends saturns have never had any problems, and they all get around 30-35mpg. My dad and girlfriend hacvthe 2.2DOHC 4cyl and I have a 1.9 DOHC 4 cyl. All get incredible gas mileage. And they aren't your generic mass built GM product like the cavalier. Saturn doesn't mas sproduce their cars, which in my opinion makes them a little better than your Poniac or GMC or Chevy.
The Xb is crap... its an Echo with a different body... but if you like the Echo then enjoy. But I got my saturn for 4k and It can beat a new EX with 98k miles on it so... whatever you choose good luck!

Re: New car...need opinions
a new EX with 98k miles isnt exactly new, lol
but i do agree, the new civics only have 127 hp stock so they aren't really made to race or anything - econoboxes

to be honest, i kind of like the new tc's. 160hp 163 ft/lb, but a little heavy at 2,970 lb. Its still probably decently quick, but ive never driven one. I think they do look pretty good though too....

Re: New car...need opinions
the reviews on em are sweet, but the factory options for them are ridiculously overpriced. Sure you can buy everything from Scion, instead of getting aftermarket, and pay about 3 times as much! Sport Compact Car, i have an issue and they reviewed the tC, it's nice, but some have the rattling roof problem, cuz it's all glass. I'd wait until the next generation comes out to buy a scion, then they'll work out the bugs.

Re: New car...need opinions
Before I would buy the tc I would just buy a new civic. They look better than the tc. To me the tc looks like a tame version of the Tiburon

Used 2004 Dodge SRT-4 with a warranty left still...2.4 liter, turbocharged, LSD, stock. Brand new around 21K, used mid-high teens.

Re: Re: New car...need opinions
new cars are junk. if i were going to buy something newer i would look into a certified pre-owned honda/acura. you can't beat the quality of a low miles honda engine if you want to talk about reliability
before you buy anything be sure to check the recalls

Remember this is my daily driver so I am not looking for something turbo or supercharged. I wan't something I can drive daily/on trips and be reliable and great on gas.
Also lets talk about insurance. I am only 20 yrs old so I don't need anything that will rape me with insurance cost. I am really leaning toward the 2005 Scion Xb blue pearl, 5sp, 1.5L 105 hp. 30mpg city and 34 mpg highway. Sounds like it would be an overall good car. Yet the Cobalt 145 hp 5sp is sounding good. Has a 2.2L 4cyl in it which could be good down the line. After warranty runs out might be great for turbo.
