Re: Anyone Else Miss Washing Your Car, Cold Weather..

We just got dumped on by over a foot of snow, right after I washed my truck Christmas eve.. I keep our garden hose inside and bring it out right before I'm ready to wash it down..Most of the time I'm dressed like an Eskimo. My girlfriend Laughs at me while she stays in the warm house. I've tried the hot bucket of water deal, but it takes way too many buckets to get a good cleaning. All year long I try to wash my truck at least once a week, I apply wax about every 3 months.

your truck must either get filthy or its a big truck to use more than bucket. I guess my husbands truck would use 2... if he ever washed it. And then considering its probably been a year since that thing has been washed I think it might need a few million buckets lol.

Re: Anyone Else Miss Washing Your Car, Cold Weather..

I am a spaz about my car being dirty. I still wash it when its freezing outside. I just try to do it on days when the sun is out. I have heard some bad things about the automatic car washer things. I have heard of them stripping the paint off your car or at least taking off a little clear coat. So i stay away from them.

Re: Anyone Else Miss Washing Your Car, Cold Weather..

I NEVER wash the car when it's sunny, or when the sun is on it, or on really hot days. The reason being is because the water, and soap spuds with dry on the car before i get a chance to dry it with the shammy. Bad.

I wash it about 6, or 7ish at night when the sun is going down, and there is a shadow over the front lawn (shown in the pic above)

It was sunny on the day i posted that pic, but it was me and james, and we wet/washed/dryed parts of the car as we got to them. E.g, we washed my left side, then dryed it right away, then did the bonet, etc. That's hard with one person.

Re: Anyone Else Miss Washing Your Car, Cold Weather..

Well my car is white so im lucky in the fact that if the water dries it never spots the paint! The teflon sealant stuff probly helps with that too, plus i can fry eggs on my car and they wont stick to the teflon! Now my last car was a dark red, you had to wash about 1 square foot and dry it before you moved on to the next foot if you didnt want it to spot.

I need to get a running start up my friend's driveway.... The hill around the corner and up the block is even worse. Going back down it is even worse. But yeah. I was obsessed with keeping my car clean. But I am trying to see how long I can go without washing it. So far my right side(the side I can see[on the curb facing house]) is really dirty. Actually it looks kind of good that dirty.

I know what you mean, cause my car is black (obviously given the pic) I have to wash and dry one section at a time in the summer. I also generally wait until evenings to wash it. In the wintier though I can do a whole side, then rinse then do the front, rinse, other side, rinse and then the back side and rinse. So its actually faster in the winter to wash my car.

if i had a digital camera on me, you guys would see that my windshield wipers are still literally frozen from a couple of days ago......T.C is covered in ice and road salt.........i wish that it'd get warmer so that i could spray it down, but seeing as to how it's in the 20's right now, the water would freeze, and i'd turn into a Hogie popsicle at the local Spray n' Wash

Re: Anyone Else Miss Washing Your Car, Cold Weather..

Alright, i washed my car in the wash bay at work last Saturday. I used smokin hot water and got my Civic lookin sharp, but when i went to drive home, it was soooooo cold (-12 F +wind) that all the water left on my car steamed off and instantly froze and my car was a giant icicle. Now the drivers door has a loud squeek when it is opened because the hinges are covered in ice. Gotta love ND!
