Re: Doors Frozen shut... help!
it does actually. ill look for the link but basicly its because the further apart two tempuratures are the faster they change towards each other. example water at 40 moves very slowly to 32, but water at 70 changes very fast to 50 they fast to 40 then quick to 32. somehow it works out that hot water freezes faster then cold water does.

This is indeed true due to a combination of factors.....convection, evaporation, supercooling, etc. It is called the Mpemba Effect. Before you go ragging on someone for their post, you might want to brush up on your physics.

Re: Doors Frozen shut... help!
Yeah i personaly did learn in high school physics that hot water freazes faster than cold.
what i'm going to do is put a few bottles de-icer in the hatch, for some reason that never freazes. somethings that can help are keyless entry, so if you locks freeze it doesn't matter cause you don't need the key to unlock them. personaly i'm 6' 150 lbs, so i'm more than willing to jump in the hatch if i have too. kinda of a funny story my friend has a 98 tallon est. his driver side door lock froze so he went to the passeger side and got it unlocked. but the passenger side door was froze. so he pulled it so hard he broke off the door handle. he ended up crawling in the hatch. man i love having a hatch. one way or another i'm getting in the damn car!! lol. so every day at school when his door freezes he jumps in the hatch. kinda funny, the poor guy goes to high school. how embaresing. i mean i'm a manager at a Finishline so when i get out of work real late its not like anyones looking.

Re: Doors Frozen shut... help!
his locks aren't freezing, it's his entire door. Don't use hot water unless you know it's going to work, because that will freeze too. Push the car into a garage or get a hair dryer or heat gun.
