Re: The element of surprise

hehe jm93 always has to say something negative i love it. Yeah those svt's are pretty nice i mean they might not be the fastest thing out there but there faster then the normal car also they svt contour cant be faster then the stang gt bc it would steal its sales. Its also alot faster then the base model.

Re: The element of surprise

i raced a sho when i was stock and had a problem with it, the sho is very fast, and so is the svt contour, funny thing is i've actaully seen the two race and the contour won by almost a car length.

and i've also seen at the local street races up here a svt contour beat a 1st gen awd eclipse GSX

I believe it. Properly driven, ive seen near stock svt contours run high 14s and modded 2.5Ls run near a 14.5-14.7s. 3.0L svts have ran anywhere from a 13.4-high 14s. Its all about the driver with this car because of its launching.

Re: The element of surprise

Hmmm. I own three Taurus SHO's (one parts car).
A 93 5 speed with an ss catted y-pipe, 73mm MAF, flowmasters, and NOS N20 jetted for 80 hp.
Also a 91 SHO plus 5 speed which comes stock with a lightweight plastic hood. Also has an ss catted y-pipe and catback.
I took my 93 to the strip when it was stock and ran a 15.0 at 96mph. For a 4 door from the early 90's they are quite fast, and yes they are faster than the later 90's v8 SHO's. I topped my 93 out at 143 (exactly what ford claims). SLOW??? Better do your research.

Re: The element of surprise

And yes the 89-95 SHO motor is built by Yamaha. The 5 speeds have a 3.0 and the auto's have a 3.2 both putting out 220 h.p.

Re: The element of surprise

yeah, i always wondered why those oldschool sho's w/ 3.0's had DOHC and 220hp....when the V8 stangs of the day had 4.9liter 225hp engines... and he newer pushrod v6 stangs underperforming by 70 hp w/ almost another liter on the taurus....

yamaha explains a lot

Yea I heard Conan had a SHO. Never seen it though. The earlier mustang v8 is comparible to the SHO.5.0stangs in the early 90's to 95 made 215 H.P. but more tourque than an SHO. Due to more loss of power through the drivetrain of the rear wheel drive Mustang, the Taurus SHO can usually stay even or beat a 5.0 Stang (f the driver is any good). Oh and I have beaten many 99 and newer 4.6 stangs that make 260 H.P. with my SHO.

Re: The element of surprise

VR-4 Galant... Tough to come by. I haven't seen too many of those things around. I wouldn't mind driving one of those, I like a car that will make people say " I just lost to a ..." then they want to sell their car
