Depends on how big Rotaries are in your area, I could name plenty of places to get a Rotary serviced/rebuilt in Auckland (Though bear im mind not many'd be overly familiar with the RENESIS, as they usually have older cars with 13B's and 12A's going through them). That said, I'd still take my RX8 to Mazda, should I have one.

Anyway, I'll take an RX8, firstly the RX8 is available new in New Zealand, the G35 isn't (It only comes in second hand from Japan as a Nissan V35 Skyline, without a factory warranty), secondly, I've never seen a V35 Skyline in manual and probably never wil, however every RX8 I have seen is a manual.

The RX8 is also original, how many 4 door rotary sports cars can you name with seating for four? None. The handling is also reputed to be better than the 350Z (And hence is likely to be better than the heavier G35). I also like the way the RX8 looks.

Re: Overall, G35 coupe VS RX8

i would pick the G35, i love the exterior, and that exhaust note. under the hood is a big protential V6 that might be on the New GT-R thats hopefully coming to the states. as for the rx-8, i don't know much about that engine, but its a damn good engine fore its size, you can mount it anywhere for better weight distrubation, but i don't think its as good as the old rx-7 engine, i saw some rx-8 with the 20b engine, so whats up with that, and a new Rx-7 coming back?

Sorry, guys, but I have to go with the rotary crowd this time. I rode in a G35 a little while ago and I thought it was terrible. But I usually do hate bulky cars anyways. The interior is...weird compared to what I'm used to. I love the design of the RX-8 both inside and out compared to that nightmare. Plus, the thing has suicide doors stock! What's not to love?

the styling of the rx-8 is questionable. its looks very terrible in some angles. also the flared fendres looked tacked on, and its too bubbly in certain angles. the car is purely overly styled. i wouldn't be surprised if the car will start to ugly 10 years from now. cars with clean lines like the g35, 300zx, rx-7 tt all will stand the test of time. the Z is already almost 16 years old, and the FD is 11 years old, yet they still look better then most cars out in the streets today. the G35 will fall into the same category. hell even my S14 looks better then most cars out now. nice simple and clean flowing lines that will never get old.

i will admit that the RX-8 has a better interior, however again its too childish and kidish feeling, with then over doing it witht eh rotary triangles all over the head rest, and shifter etc etc. plus the RX-8 is painfully slow. i'll take a G35 anyday esp with its new interior for 05, and with 20 more hp.

G35 coupe.... if I had $35k, I would get a loaded 2 door six-speed manual G35 in a heartbeat.

I would say the G35...The RX8 has no power you can feel... Sure it handles better, but at anything...even a track, my moneys on the g35

Argh, I'm beaten!

I would take a 95+ RX-7 over both of them any day!

Well, if Mazda gave the RENESIS some goddamn Twin Turbos like the FD before it, it would have been worthy of the title of Mazda's premier rotary sports car...

The RENESIS by itself makes about as much horsepower as the old REW13BTT did with two freaking turbos. I wonder how much the RX-8 could pump out with twin sequentials breathing under the hood...?

If Mazda went ahead and built a twinturbo SE3P, I would most definitely take that over the G35. Screw the interior design, because I'd customize it anyways. Roargh!

actually they don't. the RENESIS hardly could put out 190whp. thats why mazda had to rerate the car soo many times casue it was no where near as powerful as the original 250hp as they claimed.

after they put the thing on the dyno and found out how little power it made, they rated to 238hp. which in my opinion is still alittle bit too high for a 190whp car.

the FD3S put down 230whp stock. thats 40 more whp then the RX-8.

Damn you Mazda!!!

Still, the damn thing would at least have some more oomph with twin turbos.

Re: Overall, G35 coupe VS RX8

g35, nicer, more luxury, and more torque. I do like the styling of the rx-8 more, I like the flared fenders and overall sporty look, but it lacks torque and class of the g35
