Tanks for all the nice comments. I didn't realize GT40s were so popular. Everyone should have one.

Good work on one of the high tides in automotive history. The car itself is amazing and the story of it's birth is even more fantastic. Think I'll have to get me a new one. Some years ago there was a transkit for this one and Fujimi's Ferrari P4 with complete engine detail, it was rather expensive...about 1000 SKr excluding shipping from Japan. Has anybody tried this one out?
If you would like to do a quick shine on the car you can always just sand it with fine grit wet and dry and then polish it with almost any compound, I've tried Sonax Polish and Rubbing but I think you'll be fine with the polish as the rubbing is a little bit harsh on the thin layers of paint we use on our models. Try on scrap piece first and you'll be amazed with the results you can get in no time at all. As you can see below it gives quite a nice shine, I sanded with LMG's 3600 grit cloth and polished with the Sonax products. The best part is that it's not very expensive and you can get it almost anywhere.

Wow Niclas that is amazing. I shall have to pick some of that up. This might sound crazy, but would a Dremel with a polishing bit on it do a good job? Or would it just wear away the paint?

I think your likely to destroy the paint job with a dremel, it's to fast and can easily ruin everything. It takes only light rubbing to get this shine out of the paint. If I remember it's some 15-20 minutes work on the roof from start to finish. If it's more of a haze in the paint and none or little orange peel you'll be fine with just the polish and no sanding to bring out the shine. Be careful on acrylics though as almost anything will soften it, on thoroughly dried enamel and laquer I had no problems with automotive materials.

Good luck!
Niclas
