I have 253,000 miles on a 1995 Aurora I bought off the showroom floor in August of 1994. The most expensive repair I ever had was to replace the AC compressor approx. $700. The dealer was Goodwrench Plus and replaced it free a year later when it died.

Re: Re: Re: Who has the most miles

Over 140,000 on two and 101,000 on my third one now. Sorry to say ever got to see if the two would go more than 140,000 cause both were total. Only did brakes and oil change to them.

Re: Who has the most miles

96 olds aurora. Bought in Jan 05. Now sept 05. Less than a year. With all these repairs.

Back pads 90.00
Cleaned fuel injector and fuel rail 150.00
New brake line 100.00
some type of seals I can't recall 80.00
First tune up plugs and wires 100.00
Second tune up 250.00 including better wires performance air filter and fuel filter
New fog lights and wiper blades about 40.00
Passenger window not working and 2 knobs on the stereo replaced 175.00
Ac went out at 78,000 haven't had it fixed yet.
gas gauge went out at 78,000
Bought the car with 75k now with 79k.

Rediculous let me tell you.

Still not running right. Code p0171 in car right now. Has to see dealer next week.

I love the car but won't do it again. I still have faith after another 10,000 in repairs it will run.

Good Luck Jer

Re: Re: Who has the most miles

Jer,

Sorry to hear of your issues. sounds like you do have few issues with the AC, fuel gauge, window and brake line - but all the rest sounds like reg maintnence and overall it seems as though the previous owner let things go until "poor you" took it off their hands.

for your code PO171: from http://www.obd-codes.com
Causes

A code P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters (K&N, etc.) can cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled
  • There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.
Possible Solutions

Possible solutions include:
  • In the vast majority of cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling
  • Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary
  • Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure
BTW - I have 197,000 miles and I have done many of the common "Aurora" fixes. Overall I love it and I am very concerned about what can replace it when it gets to 300,000 miles

I'm current at 170,000 miles.

Things I have replaced are just recently :

Solenoid in my Tranny

Water Pump(wasn't broke, just had it changed as a precaution)

Belts/Hoses(same as water pump)

Two front Window Motors

Had bad power steering and coolant leaks.

Fuel Rail Recal

New EGR Valve(had stalling problems)

Nothing really bad except for the solenoid, everything else was like $75-200 bucks.

Check out the new GPZ with the Northstar 4.6 V8. Splitten image of the Classic. Bigger brakes and other performance features. Not sure if I want the GPZ or the GTO...

the only thing i have to do to the car is put gas in it.

i put rear brakes on it for $40.00
fpr for $40.00
tune up for $80.00

thats all the money i have put into the car. great car, and im the second owner, kinda dont want to part with it. the motor and the tranny are in perfect working order, with no leaks whatsoever.

Re: Re: Re: Who has the most miles

The car I purchased in March, had 109,000 miles on it. The motor that was in it, is sitting besides my shed now. Seems like someone ran over something or hit a huge pothole, cracking the oil pan. I guess They decided to keep on driving, losing the oil, and causing the engine to over heat, blowing the head gaskets. And also causing cracks in the engine block. If the tranny pan, was made like the engine pan, It probably would be sitting beside the shed also. I think some people would be better off with a heavy duty bicycle.

Owners, be careful with this common Aurora problem. The fuel sending sensor is available separately from the whole assembly. I paid $152 for it and $96 labor to install AT THE DEALER.
