thats odd. becasue V-TEC doesn't just rely on RPM to engage. it also looks at throttle position i believe. that being said, it must be computer controlled. i'm sure there are sensors in the tranny that will let the ECU know thats in reverse. since the car is in reverse and the ECU knows it, i don't think it would work unless honda engineers missed that point when designing the car.
but what do i know? its just a theory, if someone tried it and it works, then it works.

Your car has to be moving at least 13mph, your car has to be warmed up, oil pressure has to be high enough, you need to give at least (i believe) 50% throttle, and you have to be at VTEC engagement rpm's. So in theory, if your car was warmed up, and you could hit 13mph in reverse before your rpm's hit engagement point (in my car its 5200rpm). VTEC would engage.

if it counts for anything i can make boost in reverse.. i dont recomend trying it.. i was board one day at work and home depo has a big empty parking lot...
