Did you try to unstick is any spray TB cleaner around it to clean it up?

well i went and actually took off the throttle body and i found that it is not the butterfly. One of the plates is warped and it is binding which is keeping the throttle open. Im just gonna go down to the wrecker and pull a body to replace it.

I had the same problem on my 98 Jimmy SLT. I was told by the dealership that the throttle body needed cleaning. They cleaned it for under $50. That was a couple of years ago and I have never had a problem with it since.

It can't be warped, no way is there enough heat up there to warp it.

believe me ive got the thing out and im looking right at the plate and its bent and rubbing against the wall inside the throttle body. Dont know how it happened...but im just gonna go grab another body for 25 bucks...problem solved.

Well after reading this thread I decided to try cleaning mine again. This time I bought STP Throttle Body and Air Intake Cleaner...it worked ten times better than the rubbing alcohol and toothbrush I used the first time. You don't even have to scrub it you just spray it clean.

Mine is now working great and doesn't stick at all.

Forgot to mention, it smoothed out the idle too.

ok i have a different question. I went down to the wrecker to pick up a throttle body and they have lots of them but none with the vacuum outlet that goes to the air cleaner assembly like mine does. if i use one of these and disconnect that vacuum line it shouldnt matter right??

I must say that that plate can be warped and cause problems like it did in mine, i started a thread about this, here is the link:

I am still not sure why this happened, I belive I still have the warped plate sitting around somewhere once i find it i will take pics and post them for all to see,

And i hate to say it but the IAC had nothing to do with it, my problem was because of this warped plate,

savage8190 if you just open the throtle body and remove the warped plate your vehicle will once again be drivable, Oh and ever since i got rid this plate the engine revs up faster, not sure why but it works for now

I sprayed carb cleaner down the intake while another person reved it up to 1500-2000 rpm
That freed up my pedal. I might do it at every oil change also.
