To Willimo,

If I understood correctly, HLJ doesn't plug them from kits. They order the parts from the manufacturer in this case Fujimi. They have some parts lying around from kits that are damaged or that have been missing parts from the factory and if they don't have the parts in stock they order them from the source.

How about Import tuner 1/18 scale models for 1/12 models wheel source? I put 1/24 scale wheels on a 1/18 scale model. Fits perfect!

Making the centers seperate from the lips would make them more modular, like a 1:1 3-peice. If that plan ever gets off the ground, I would be willing to reshoot a few more centers. But don't bank on anything from me until you see it.
Hmmm I'm wondering what Volk TE37's would look like on a Testarossa... 19" rears and 18" fronts would be hot I bet. I'm gonna see if I can find someone to photoshop it up for me to see how it looks!

We are talking about 1:12 wheels here, not sure if you knew that.
Did they make a Testarossa in 1:12?

I hate to sound like an ass here, but I DID read the subject line, otherwise I wouldn't have posted anything. I know it's surprising when someone actually reads something here, so I understand.

Oh, and yes, Monogram made a 1:12 Testarossa a long time ago. If YOU had read my original post, you would already know that.

Re: 1:12 wheels

Here's a wheel that took me less than 15 minutes to make. Compare them to the 14" rears. To make this, the tire used is included with the 1/12 Corvette and '57 Chevy (and the Camaro I'm guessing) that was cut open to fit a taller rim, a 1/12 Testarossa rim was cut open with a Dremel, and spare RC rims I have sitting in my rollaway. I could just as easily use the TR tires but I wanted a slightly taller sidewall. I cut the RC wheel down to fit into the rim - pretty easy since the spokes are straight.

The car is an old glue bomb that I built when I didn't know any better, and now I want to restore it with these wheels. Originally I was trying to find modern wheels for a 1/12 '57 Chevy project, but forget that. This just looks too cool to me. Not sure what to do with the rear flares, or just use the stock body and live with narrower tires. But that's for another thread..

Re: 1:12 wheels

If you're interested in some BBS wheels, these might be suitable for you. But then they're pricey.

Re: 1:12 wheels

Those are almost perfect. Unfortunatelt, "Approxamately" 1.5" in diameter could either be the same size as what I've got or a golden 18" wheel in 1:12.

Yeah never mind the price... $40 EACH! That's $160 just for the wheels!

Re: 1:12 wheels

Or $40 for one and I'll be all mad scientist and repop them in resin. Then put the master on my desk to hold down all the homework I'm neglecting.

Then hope that whatever tires you have will fit over them.

Re: Re: 1:12 wheels

Have you tryed the "DUBBS" diecast trucks. They come with a large Variety to choose from. just keep in mind that will look more like "15" inch wheels instead of the "23" inch wheel they were meant to be.
