The Preludes that carry the "Si" tag are 160bhp. The Preludes that are 190bhp are VTEC.

At any rate, the #'s completely vary from car to car but for rule of thumb, Non-VTEC Si's have 150-170, VTEC H22's have 190-210.

Re: 92 Prelude si Need sum tips for a beginner

i know this has nothin to do w/ this but how much horsepower does the jdm h23 vtec have and what car did it come out of? i saw this engine on a company's website that had engine swaps and this is the only website ive found it on http://rebuilt.net/JDM_VTECGSREngines.htm
scroll down to honda engines...says its $4500...just wondering how many hp it would have and if it came out of jdm ludes or maybe accords?

Re: 92 Prelude si Need sum tips for a beginner

To set the record straight...

All H22Ax are inherently 200hp. The difference between the 93-96 H22A1 and the +97 H22A4 is that the older version is a closed deck block. Although it makes less power, it is also stronger for boost. The +97 H22A4's are all capable of 200hp, but there is some power loss associated with the tranny. JDM H22A (without numbers) are exactly 200.

With all that aside, the truth of the matter is the differences between these blocks are so miniscule that you would hardly notice it on the dyno. More significant is what tranny you are using, auto or manual.

The H23A from the fourth gen Si models are all rated at 160hp. No more, no less, and there seems to be no tranny power loss from having an automatic (although when dyno'd, there probably is).

There's no such thing as JDM tails for a 4th gen lude, also the lower HP could be the Prelude S model, with hubcaps, less horsepower, etc.
