Good bang for buck is subjective. If you want a fast car for cheap, get a vtec civic and drop 7 grand into it. If you have more respect for yourself than that, look elsewhere. The 3kgt vr4 is a great car, anyone here will tell you that. The reason they are rare is because people refuse to sell theirs, or they are just too damn expensive. Important to remember that new, this car costs ~38,000 US. This car is also fairly easy to get a lot more horsepower out of. For about 1000 bucks, you can get 400 horsepower out of it and still be reliable. Also a good thought to check with your insurance company about how much it's going to cost to insure one, and year will matter quite a bit here. My insurance company wouldn't insure me for the 2nd and 3rd gens, so I'm stuck with the 91-93 1st gen models (No complains here, I think they're the hottest model).
