The Honda S2000 has F1 piston speed and its stroke doesnt suck.
Imagine what a (100?)mm stroke would be moving at at 9K

F1 piston speed isnt really all that special now-in-days the F20 at 9000, QR25 at 6800RPM, and the 13B all have piston speeds that rival F1 cars.

Piston acceleration on the other hand...

ive never heard of a sr20 or a ka24 @ 10k rpms, maybe if the car has a shorter displacement.

Re: 10,000+rpm

sr20det, 6500 more then enough. i dont even pass that. 10000rpm is not that usefull on a N/A mp motor i think.

Re: 10,000+rpm

well it is not going to be na, not a big fan of that, force induction is the way to go ( i think) I will prolly pimp out the ka. For the 2000 i ll spend on sr20 ill just build the motor and do upgrades to the head.

Re: 10,000+rpm

when did 13b's get pistons? There are a few 10k rpm srs search the net there is a hks sr20det that can do over 11k rpms.

There are tons of high rpm NA motors... CART, INDY, F1 they all used to have non-FI engines. EVER heard of a motorcycle? Almost 200hp with over 13k rpms on tap NA.... Or the 1/2 Million dollar superbikes with over 280hp with 14-15k rpm redlines. With a better HP/Liter ratio than most race cars.

From what I've read the QR25 has the highest bore to stroke ratio out of any production street car. And the QR25 redlines at 6200...rev limited and JWT hasn't broken the ECU to raise it yet with a chip...though you can use an older sentra ecu, but that just brings a bunch of different issues. 6800-7200 is the absolute maximum you want to bring the car to with stock internals...even with upgraded internals it's a crap shoot whether it will survive for long.

Gotta love how low the torque comes on though...with the stock setup + mmi you can get rubber in third with 17x7 sport tires...top speed of 140 which is only drag limited...rev-limited to about 164...and it's very smoothe at 130+...

Re: 10,000+rpm

If you want to rev a relatively standard motor with mild modifications then buy a honda motor or a rotary. If you want to rev to 15,000 + rpm then buy any motor that can flow that volume of air and build it to be able to do those sort of revs.. remember to consider the motor you choose in the beginning and to check that its enginereering charecteristics represent properties such as better valve angles etc before you upgrade to 3rd party components. (you will then get better bang for buck).. ps to the noob that posted "when did rotorys get pistons?"... well in case you havent noticed a rotory is an internal combustion engine and it has a rotor, which is a piston. anyway cheers.
