I am a little freaked about driving fast in traffic, my dad came up on an accident the other day where the guy was dead lying under his car. Racing is indeed fun and a true adrenaline rush, but it's not worth your life. Risks are ok, it's just unnecessary and sketchy risks you want to avoid. It sounds like he kept it to a decent speed though. And when you find a chick driving/racing her Cobra, get her number, because she is DEFINITELY a keeper.

Re: once bitten twice shy by a cobra

oh no you're totally right, you're not the only one in the street racing forums that races on the street. I admit so did I many times in the past, all i was trying to say was be careful really, like i said, I wasn't trying to insult or be mean to you or anything......Also, about you having a lot of experience driving at high speeds, well so did i in my camaro, i had a looooooot of experience driving it up to 150mph regularly on our highways here which are long and empty.....alas, i crashed the car a month ago and its been wrecked and i've lost a whole lot of money. So no matter how much experience you have, no one is invincible. But yeah, a hot chick in a hot car, pretty hard to resist.

Re: once bitten twice shy by a cobra

the old saying of guys like nothing better but "fast women, and fast cars" is always gonna be true....just be careful on those roadways...you want your family to at least be able to identify your body with having to use a dna sample....keep it safe...

Because speed is not what makes it dangerous (well not the only thing...)
Racing in heavy traffic is much more dangerous, just because you're a very experienced driver isn't to say that a traffic isn't going to without looking pull in front of you.
or sideswipe you.

High speed on an empty road isn't as dangerous as moderately high speed in thick traffic.

anyhow, that's my two cents.

and yeah. everyone knows what they're doing is dangerous, no need to tell them every time.

Bullshit, you have 2 years driving experience max, and the statement above shows exactly your level.

Swerving trough traffic is by far the most dangerous thing one could posibly do. And even for a profesional driver it would be too dangerous. Traffic means numerous cars which are unpredictable and no space to avoid collisions. Therefore no matter how good you are, unless you can predict the future, swerving trough traffic is stupid.

Yes we all race on the street, but we have have the decency of doing it at hours with no cars around, or on deserted back roads. in this case the only people we put in danger is ourselves.

i have 2 years of street driving experience but i have about 4 years of dirttrack experience, and dirt track racing increases your reaction speed incredibly, you never know when someone is going to flip, or spin out right in front of you, or cut you off, so i know how to make the right decisions when certain situations arise, but as i said i wasnt going all that fast in the traffic

Re: once bitten twice shy by a cobra

not to mention but you guys are all judging him on weaving in and out of traffic that you have no actual idea of how heavy the traffic was. Weaving in and out of traffic in a small town might be 4 cars total on a 3 lane road. You guys are all judging him on your preconcieved notions of traffic based on your own personal experiences.
