Re: Trailer hitch wiring.....
I have a '94 Jeep GC, which might be somewhat different, but here's my experience.
I had a wire not working on the trailer, so I traced the wires back to a converter module that splits the vehicle wiring into the proper wiring for the flat (or round) trailer wire plug. I purchased the replacement module online for about $25 (other stores had something for $75, which must have been different). Just get one that works for your vehicle model & year (I agree that Wal-Mart or Autozone should have these). There should be wiring instructions that show what color VEHICLE wire to connect to the "input" wires on the converter module. The "output" end is the outlet that would plug into the trailer wire. Mine was easy because I was replacing what was already installed. You might need to run a wire over to the RIGHT turn-signal. You'll know more when you see the diagram that comes with the harness.
ONE MORE NOTE - my wiring harness was behind the left TAIL LIGHT (not the spare tire). I don't know if this is standard, but that's how mine was. I used good wire connectors and electrical tape because there's some exposure to outside air & condensation behind the light compartment. Let us know how it goes.
