Sorry to bring back a sort of old thread. My cai came in today and I'm really excited to put it on. However, I was comparing my cai to the one cbell installed in his car, mine doesn't have that extra little tub thing he has where he put an extra breather on right on top of the air filter. What should I do, is it ok to not have an breather? My main worry is water being sucked up. Is there anything else I can do other then drill a whole or anything like that? Thanks.

Man, so I just finished putting my cai in. I didn't expect it to be that big of a pain in the ass. Me and my roomate spend about an hour and a half putting the whole thing in. My didn't fit too well either, so it now wedged up against the battery. My cai is a little different from cbells', my filter is right behind the air inlet hole next to the driver side fog light, instead of cbell's behind the radiator. I guess that would be a good place to get air, but it confused the hell out of me since I was using cbell's pictures as a how to tutoria. Thats why it took me so long, I kept moving the tubs little by little untill I can figure out where everything goes. But its all in place now, so hopefully is all good. I'll take some pictures tomorrow or something to show you guys. Now I'm gonna go drive around

The air breather is just like if you think about a crack in the straw, when you try to suck in water with tha straw, the water will only get as high as that crack, cause then you would loose the air pressure. So the breather on the cai act as a crack, if your main filter sucks in water, water will only go as far as the breather, this way your engine won't get flooded and it would still get air if you drive through some water.

You know, maybe I'm just being pranoide but I was thinking today after I put my cai on. Since mine is right behind the air inlet next to the fog light, wouldn't the filter get wet in like rain? If it gets wet, would I risk hurting my engine? Also, I'm worried about those automatic car washes that you drive through, would that flood my engine also? I guess my biggest worry is flooding or getting water into my engine. Someone please tell me that I'm ok.

Re: My Cold Air intake Pics

it can get damp or wet without causing any damage.. it practiaclly takes it being completly submerged in water for it suck up water and cause hydrolock.. i wouldnt worry too much...
