B16a is a good choice. I can understand you dont want to spend too much money Anyways ...any b-series motor you WILL NEED the following...

Aftermarket mounts ( either Hasport or HCP which are the 2 best and my favorite)

90-93 integra axles along with the SAME YEAR intermediate shaft
You will need to convert DPFI to MPFI. If you're lazy to convert it, just buy the harness from www.hasport.com

You will need a aftermarket shiftlinkage from Hasport.

You also need to wire up the vtec. I'd have the shop do the swap unless you know someone good enough to do this for you. You're lookin to spend about close to 2g's without installation.

LSD means Limited Slip Differential. I'll explain it in simple terms. Its much better to have LSD because it'll grip the ground much better because both wheel spins instead of one. Do some research on LSD. You'll find plenty of infos on them.

Absolutely no difference in power wise. They come in different tranny.

Basically yes. Unless if you get the 94 and up which comes in hydro tranny then you will need the hasport cable to hydro conversion kit. Also depending on the year on the motor since they have different OBD.

Pre 1991- Non OBD

92-95 - OBD1

96 and up- OBD2

Well i wouldn't say "easy" or "easier" but if you're talkin about potential...then all of them are really good. High potential. For all motor , b18c5 and GSR is the best. Bigger displacement is needed for a honda to hit 12s on all motor. B16a is really hard to achieve in the 12s but it can definetly see 13s. Now for turbo is basically limitless. All b-series can hit 12s with a bolt on turbo and a semi built motor. It doesn't really take much to get it there. Just make sure that no matter what set up you have....TUNE TUNE TUNE to squeeze out every ounce of power and "reliability."

What exactly is OBD, I'v searched for it but all I find is stuff talking about converting from one to the other. What exactly is the intermediate shaft? Wouldn't the wiring harness from Hasport take care of the vtec wiring?

Re: engine swap

OBD- On Board Diagnostics.

Intermediate shaft is another name called "mid" shaft. Its about like 6 inches long that goes behind the tranny and both of your axles connect to it. Search for it. You'll see some info. Go to www.hasport.com You'll see plenty of info. Did you check out that site already?

You still need to get your wires custom from the engine bay.

Re: engine swap

I almost forgot. You will need the rear "t-bone" bracket from the 90-93 integra. Get that from the dealership. Should cost like 40 bucks.

What Tranny would be better Y1, S1, or J1 for a B16A from a 88-91 SIR1. Wouldn't that bracket come with the hasport mount kit? Or does it mount something diff? What is it a mount for? Totaly of subject... well mostly off subject, on my civic there is no tach, so I want to get an after market one or just pull one from another car. Regardless of how I get it how can I hook it up. I know that it would have to hook into something that would go at the same speed as the engine, but what would that be? I don't like not knowing where my rpm's are!

Re: engine swap

For the tach...get one from a civic SI (90-91). About the tranny...the s1 and the J1 is the best. It has the same gear ratio as the usdm type r trans which short. Good for all motor.

another good thing is if you get stuck - you can always ask on fourms for help. i guess the best thing you can do is give your self time and take you time. read about the swap a lot also and go over a check list with us.
