Re: 02 RSX Type S or 05 Scion tC?

I love the tC but then again I like the RSX. Tough desicion on my part but I'd pick a RSX hands down. But for value, the tc isn't to shabby. The supercharger will be something to see when it comes available. But there's just something about he looks of the tc I like but the same goes for the RSX. I dunno

Re: 02 RSX Type S or 05 Scion tC?

tc's definitely a nice looking car- and the price is extremely appealing. I also like that Toyota is paying attention to trends as far as performance is concerned and offering the factory SC. I wish Honda would follow suit. For now the RSX is still the better performer, but it will be a sad day when entry level cars like the tc can blow out Acura's best efforts (NSX aside). It's uncomfortably close to being a reality, though.

In a fair comparison --> type-S w/SC > tC w/SC
type-S N/A > tC N/A

how can u compare that? the supercharged tc brings it to arround $20,000 which is still cheaper than an rsx-s ($23,500), plus the rsx doesnt even come with a s/c from the factory... so lets say it costs 2,000 for the s/c (which more expensive ones can easily found) not including labor ... now you have at least a $25,500 car.... so now your taking a car that actually costs more, then modifying it and comparing it to a cheaper stock car... now THAT is an even more stupid comparo then the original... how is that comparison fair? it makes absolutely no sense to me

Re: 02 RSX Type S or 05 Scion tC?

If the SC gives the tC over 200whp and 200lb's of TQ it should have a nice edge over the Type-S... but thats just speculation of stock vs stock.

I wonder how much boost the engine will be able to handle stock. W/ a MBC the tC could be a low 14's car, if Toyota dont completely under-engineer this future "option"

Re: 02 RSX Type S or 05 Scion tC?

Celica Vs. RSX:

Celica is slightly better handling, has better tires, good motor.

RSX has a few more wheel horsepower, with better tires its just as good of a handler, MUCH bigger aftermarket and looks loads better.
RSX > Celica.

tC is a great value. If you're looking for nice luxury features in a sporty form for a cheap price with a soon to be huge aftermarket then get the Scion (and a magazine already turbo'd the tC).

The RSX has a far better tranny despite the grinding (the tC uses the camry tranny) and is lighter and doesn't have as huge of a moonroof so its a better handler, and it has an older demographic (i.e. more respect and lower insurance).

For me, RSX > tC

Re: 02 RSX Type S or 05 Scion tC?

I think tc is more of a show car, it's pretty, comfy, prolly good to pic up ladies. I would buy just to make it look pretty, not to race. While rsx-s is a nice race car, the 05 one has 220 hp, the older one is also nice, also i prefer honda over toyota.

Re: 02 RSX Type S or 05 Scion tC?

well if u guys think about it.. the tc + the supercharger barely gets to $20k.. which is the same price u can get the base rsx for........

also i duno about u guys but in terms of looks..
rsx > tc
the interior is cheap compared to the acura, and the rsx type s is no race car.. maybe a jdm integra type r is (one of the best fwd handling cars in the world) but neither of these cars should be considered a race car.. and the topic of celica vs rsx has been bashed to death so many times its not even funny

anyways heres my conclusion
if u want a practical cheap car that comes stock with many options the average civic doesn't get you.. and enough power and torque to get you around and maybe just a bit more to have a lil fun.. then get the tc
if u have enough money to get a nice looking quick sporty coupe then get the rsx

The RSX is a better car.

Considering that I was only speaking about performance only, my statements still hold. If you bring price into it, then, yes, the tC is quite cheaper.

BUT we still have to wait and see if the SC tC outperforms the N/A typeS. It doesn't really make a difference that the SC is going to be stock on the tC. If it doesn't outperform an N/A typeS, then it's not worth getting the SC tC, in my opinion.
