Re: gst vs rs
i think you would be good to go with a hanh kit.. but im pieceing my together... it takes a lot of searching and patients but slowly im gathering parts and so far its gonna be far less expensive than a hahn kit...

Maybe the auto cant handle the hp? I dont know why it would matter.
If i were you i would watch the ebay auctions, there were some really good deals on complete turbo kits. I got a used but not installed stage I hahn kit for $900. Or just buy a stage I Then buy your own fm intercooler, mbc, and pipes insted of paying hahn anthor $800 for stage II. Quote:
I will give you a qoute from hahn, 1/4 mile performance (on street tires, not slicks) 14.5 seconds @ 95 MPH (-1.5 seconds vs. GS-T!) - Stage I 13.7 seconds @103 MPH (-2.3 seconds vs. GS-T!) - Stage II Power Output@ crankshaft 200 to 225 HP - Stage I @ 5psi 250 to 275 HP - Stage II @ 8psi Internal engine modifications not required - Stage I not required - Stage II How do you figure a stock gst would be able to beat him? If you turned it up to 10psi that would be about 295hp with no other mods.

Of course I haven't "done it", I drive a turbo car. Have you done it to know it WILL work?

Power Output@ crankshaft 200 to 225 HP - Stage I @ 5psi 250 to 275 HP - Stage II @ 8psi Internal engine modifications not required - Stage I not required - Stage II 200-225 at the crank with only 5psi of boost? that seems a bit high dunt it? i was figurein of making about 180-190 at the cracnk when i get my 6 psi...

I had the hahn stage 2 for a while and was able to beat STOCK gst's pretty easily. now gsx's are a problem due to the fact they just kick ass off the line. I was able to take one though by staging deep and some kick ass shifting. but it was still close. If you don't have the money or ablility to take your time and do the job right ......don't turbo your car. As of right now I am beefing mine up to take the abuse. though I went the easy route and just ordered a complete built up bottom end and race head and I already had the turbo, intake, injectors, boost gauge, mbc, etc...It is still a supreme bitch. All the little details need to be taken care of for every thing to run fast and not break. New sensors, clutch, vac lines, you name it I am probably replacing it. I want it to last another 176,000 without catastrophic failure. I originally "bolted on" (lol) my kit at 62,000 miles and it was still running fine as my daily drive until I started it all over. just maintain it and don't be dumb and turn the boost up and youll have a FUN daily driver. The hahn kit works with the auto. I don't see how others wouldn't unless clearane issues came up. the tranny will handle it just change fluid regularly, and maybe a aftermarket tc.

LandoAWD is right i have a 420. I dont know if it just happend to happen this way i got a custom turbo kit on with the help from one of my buddies. I dont know if this is just happend but i had my head gasket replaced like 5 months ago and one night i went driving around i ran it at like 7 psi and the next morning there was white smoke and shit and i had to get a new head gasket i dont know if it was cause of the turbo all i know is that 7 psi was scary and i dont think they will handle 10 and it dosent hit 295 hp at 10 psi its more like 210 hp at 10 psi

also i got a small oil leak after that weekend with the turbo. I dont recommend putting a turbo kit on a 420 a unless you fully rebuild the engine.

I know mine handled up to 12psi on race gas ,with no problems. 176,000 miles......what happened to yours?
"Idon't know if it was cause of the turbo" Then why say don't get one??? First off if your car is already riddled with oil leaks, and a shitty head gasket......no you don't need to go force feeding it. people are so quick to blame problems on their cars and add on's, rather than their lazy ass for not getting up and fixing leaks, or their heavy foot for reving the damn motor to numbers that are astronomical, or their impatiance for not taking the time to do shit right the first time in hopes of gaining more speed. Now, this doesn't apply to the people on this forum who push their rides hard, and when something breaks they say "oh well, grab the wrenches and the cherry picker" they know that when you combine a big right foot and more boost than a rocket, that stuff is gonna give or fatigue. It is safe to say that if you are smart, do a compression check, even a vaccum diagnosis, and leakdown test, then you are gonna have a decent guess on if your motor is gonna crap out soon or not, before shoving 10psi down its throat. I am sorry if this sounds rude but come on people use some common sence. |

I 100% agree with what slowgosooner said.
I rebuild my engine before i bought my kit, its a good idea. Or at least do some tests like he said. There is no way i would drive around on 10psi every day, Its a waste of gas for 1. I would only use 10psi when i went to race. As for the hp #'s and the track times. Thouse were right from hahn's web site, I was just quoteing. If you disagree with it take it up with them. Maybe the auto Gs-t runs a 16? Look for your self, http://www.hahnracecraft.com/auto/eclipse/eclipse.htm Anthor quote from that page, Reflecting the performance and reliability. Quote:
