Re: School+Not so got grades=Pissed Parents

Just say to yourself 100 times a day, "Did youy want fries with that?"

Because if you cant find the balls to get your head down and do your work, it's all you will ever need to know.

have you done proofs? They destroyed my junior year in HS.

ex:
Show the intermediate steps to prove equivelence
(sin(2x)cos(x))/tan(x) + cot(x)-3sin(x)Cos(x) = 1-cos(x)*(1+cos(x))^(1/2) +2sin(x)

Note: this is not actually equal, but you get the idea of the format.

Re: School+Not so got grades=Pissed Parents

what you learn in HS is going to prepare you immensly for the rest of your life. i was completely NOT motivated my jr and senior years, but just dealt with it. you will always have homework, whether you call it "planning" "design" "reports" it is all the same: work that you don't do at your job.

i also did an automotive project my jr + sr year: the mr2 that is in my sig... took 11 months and +500 hours of work. though i learned as much doing that project as anything in a math or physics class at school, it was the clas that i had to do homework in that allowed me to understand and explain why certain things would do what i wanted them to.

if you aren't willing to prove you want to work at something, you won't last long in the rest of the world.

Hey mate, I know Ive not got a huge post count behind my name but I sure know where you're coming from. Im in the uk so different setup but the same problems. Over here they use targets so they can judge whether youre doing as well as you should be. In the first exams i did when i was 16 i put loads of work in and ended up with 8 '1's which are the top grade, as a result the next year I was expected to get 5 A's. Thing is, i had lost my motivation and started spending more and more time riding bikes. I ended up with an A (how the hell i got it i dont know!), a B and 3 C's. that was less than the unis were wanting but i managed to convince the unis on my list to take me. Last year I ended up with 4 No awards (turned up pissed to one exam, turned up without any revision to another etc etc.).

Seriously, high school takes no time at all. Half of the problem is that you are being forced to do stuff at school ie you have to take 8 subjects one year the 5 the next and then in your final year you have to take 4 subjects, even if 3 are of no use to you. Last year they made me take an extra 2 subjects that i didnt want to take at a higher level than i wanted cos they said 'i was smart enough for them'. so what? forcing people to do stuff aint the way, all it does is bump their targets and results up. I made not turning up to classes without being caught an artform! sorry, stuck in traffic etc! The other halfof the problem is you feel constantly ordered about by your parents...you want to be independant but your parents still want the leashes on you. Believe me, Uni/college is totally different, you can miss the odd lecture and no-one bitches at you, you can effectively do what you want but you do the work because its your choice...its just a shame i didnt do so much work in school as i should have done.

what im trying to say is do the work now and uni/college will be so much more enjoyable. Its only a few years you have left at school and if you actually do the work, doors will be opened for you. find something you really want to do when you get a job and work your way to getting there..it seems so muchg easier that way.

Now I cant get any tools with my money until my grades are up, study about an hour a day for any class I have a "C" in, do extra trig problems, and other bullshit.

WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is really starting to piss me off instead of making me want to get my Trig grade up. Honestly, I dont give a fucking rats ass anymore.

On top of that, we just moved about 3 months ago. I need a shop to work on all my stuff. They said I could have a shop as soon as we got settled. We've been fucking settled for 2 fucking months. I tell them I can build my own shop, I dont need their help. They wont let me because they dont want me to trash the fucking carpet. Who the fuck gives a shit whether the fucking carpet is fucking trashed or not? Im putting nice tile down which isnt going to be easy to remove, and I dont see why it needs to be removeable anyway.

When they previously said I could have my own shop, they were going to pay for it, it would be done fairly soon, and they would help build it. NOW, I have to pay for all the lumber to build my new workbench, and everything else I need, I have to wait for my Dad to pull up the carpet, and wait for him to build me a workbench with my money the way he wants it, and I cant have a shop until my grades are up. Just great, just fucking great. Why wont he trust me to build my own workbench?

This weekend I wanted to do some airbrushing...now get this. I can airbrush only if I use my paint booth. Hmmm, I dont have a shop to setup my airbrush booth. So they tell me to set it up in the garage. Oookkk, the reason why I have a paint booth is so I can paint inside and vent it. Why the hell do I need it on a breezy day and Im working outside?

I can go on and on...this is getting fucking ridiculous...I hate life.

Mike, suck it up buddy.

You have your wants/aims, and they have theirs. Until you start to meet them at least half way with a decent amount of maturity, the only person who will be miserable is you.

Junior year really does suck ass. Im a senior now and Ive never had it easier. You basically do nothing. I barely passed my junior year. I took geology which i didn't know was a college level class. I worked my ass off but I passed. All you can do is deal with it. About your parents though my friends parents are just like that so your not the only one suffering.

Teached? He just teached?... Perhaps you should consider further education.
