the reason you want it softer is because when it opens it stays open longer so you dont get back pressure on your turbo...it vents all the air, in result your turbo lasts longer

lol, last night i was putting new headlights in my car and i looked at my bov(greddy type-s) and the bolt was gone ..... i was wondering why it sound alot longer, but man it sounds so nice.

when you're doing a everyday driving, you want it to be softer. while you're on the track or racing, you want it to hold the pressure longer so it doesn't vent out so easily. i also find it pulls little harder at a titer setting. just don't set it too tite, or the backpressure'll damage the turbo.
