Do you get a big sheet of CF? Like enough to do other stuff aswell, or just enough for the Enzo model? I was thinking of getting it anyway, but would be really cool if i could get enough CF to do my Holzer Opel Astra aswell.

No, it's templated (printed on the backside so you can cut the pieces to the correct size and shape) and there won't be much left after cutting out the various pieces.

CADguy's Revell Enzo
Thanks for posting that link Zoom-Zoom. That car is nearly a year old, and my favorite of all that I've built before or after that.

I've gotten lots of awesome compliments at shows, and here on AF for that car. It may not be fully detailed and carbon fibered up the wazoo, but that Revell kit has won multiple 1st and 2nd place awards. It has placed at EVERY show I've entered it in. I'm not trying to toot my own horn here, but after people see it built they understand it is a great kit.

It's not the kit that makes the great model though, it's the builder. This kit gives every builder what they need for a nice replica of this beautiful car. Nice, accurate details, and a perfectly proportioned body.

This Revell kit is just about the best Revell kit there is out there. Most of the people trashing the Revell kit have not built it, some probably haven't even held it in their hands. The similaritys in the Revell and Tamiya kit are very close IMO. Hell, the rear engine cover of the Tamiya fits PERFECTLY on the Revell body. That is a testament as to how well Revell tooled this kit.

I agree that the Tamiya is a great kit also. I'm building it now. The pieces fit together perfectly the details are outstanding. But this is what I expect from a kit that is $40-$50 here in the US. My Revell was only $12, and far exceeded my expectations.

So, either is a great kit. I think you'll be happy with whatever model you choose.

Re: Revell Enzo VS Tamiya Enzo

CADguy is absolutely right. The builder makes a great model, not the kit. Kits aren't magic, they don't make the paint lay flat or the glue go in exactly the right spot. They don't build themselves.

Here we have a unique situation, where the two plastic model juggernauts have made kits of the exact same car, and therefore we can almost directly compere the two. Both kits are masterpeices for their respective manufacturer; both the best kit either has produced. But it would be amazingly difficult to actually choose which is better when trying to sum up all the merits each possess.

This thread is a perfect example of the hype that people surround certain kits with, which is often undeserved. While I must agree, the Tamiya Enzo was probably the nicest kit I've ever seen, it's not ahead by the leaps and bounds everyone seems to think it is. The William F1 is just as good, the cars put out by Accurate Miniatures are also just as good, in my opinion. Everyone hemmed and hawwed when this model came out, and again when the Porsche Carerra GT came out. Both beautiful models of great cars, but nothing so stupendus that they've required nearly as much lavish praise as they've gotten. Sure, I may not disagree with it being the kit of the year or whatnot, but damn. Places where a lot of opinion courses through on a constant basis, as such, places like AF really blow opinions out of proportion. I think the Tamiya Enzo and Porsche have each gotten 5-6 threads, excluding in-progress and built up threads. This for kits with very limited versatility! Just amazes me. I think kits like Revell's tuner series really are better deserving of attention and comment since they leave themselves open for endless interpretation. Enzo - what can you do? Paint it another color? So?*

Ah well. Classes have begun and I am therefore in a bad mood, ready to rant over anything. But really. Listen to CADguy. It's the builder, not the kit. Whichever kit you choose, it's patience, resourcefullness, skill, and patience that will make it good. Not the name on the box. Don't buy into the hype. Buy into whatever your skills can provide for you.

Edit: * Not disparaging anyone who built an Enzo of any color.

Re: Revell Enzo VS Tamiya Enzo

I started to build the revell kit some time ago, but havent finished it yet:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=171006

I think the detail level is very good, but it needs some more trimming and test fitting to go together as nice as a tamiys kit normally does, but if you put some work into it it will be a great model.

I`ve got both, haven`t built either, but I am looking forward to both kits. I will attempt the Revell first, with no opening doors, I`m still improving my body paint finishes.

How dare you take my word and make me say something I've never ment to ??

This was for the maturity and craftmanship that the manufacturer put in their works and never intented to bash any of the builder here ! Because I know that someone can turn a toad into a prince here and often do it with little extra (like a prince with a very cüte blue suit (refering to the Cad'blue Enzo)).

So don't make me come out there to debate something I have never said OK??

Then I suggest you be more honest with your assessment of the Revell kit. Do you even have the two kits to compare??? I have two Revell and two Tamiya Enzos. I know what I'm talking about.

I never said you bashed his model. I simply showed CADguy's model to make a point (his was the only finished Revell Enzo I could find, I've seen one other that was equally as good but didn't find it when I searched)...the Revell kit is certainly NOT a toy. He did a fantastic job. So did Revell. And he gave them kudos for it as well-he knows how unfair it is to call the kit a toy. If I were a Revell employee, such as the kit designer of the Enzo, I'd be crying "how dare you call my kit a toy!"

I get rather tired of people posting incorrect information on here on such a regular basis, such as the popular "Revell models are crap" kind of mentality that we see here frequently.

I am a bit confused because people keep saying that the Revell Enzo is much cheaper than the Tamiya one. I saw them both in one shop and the Revell was 379 swedish kronor and the Tamiya was 399 swedish kronors. Is the Revell too expensive or the Tamiya too cheap?

At Hobbylink Japan the Tamiya Enzo 216.80 kronors before shipping and other associated costs (import duties, which we don't have in the US).

If the two are priced that close, by all means get the Tamiya. Import duties and taxes make direct comparisons between the US and Sweden nearly impossible.

In the US, the Revell Enzo retails for $16.50. The standard Tamiya Enzo retailed for $45, the yellow and later red version are $55.00 each.

I've found the Revell Enzo for $6.50 on sale, and the Tamiya yellow Enzo for $25.49 on sale, so it's common to see the Revell kit for about 1/4 to 1/3 the price of the Tamiya.

Where did I put incorrect info ?? Did I said Revell Enzo was crap ?? I said Revell Enzo is not as a mature kit (a toy) then the Tamiya Enzo is... No opening doors, no metal emblems, no CF decals, poor fitting that need to be retouch to have a perfect model, molding line, pin holes poorly located...
Revell Enzo is one on the prettiest Revell there is, but Tamiya is a masterpiece. Sorry if that bother you. It's my opinion... respect it.

I get rather tired me too... of poeples assuming...

Still assuming that I don't know what I'm talking about !! I maybe have only one Revell Enzo but I'm not improvising on this (and at least 4 Tamiya Enzo to compared with).

And for the Revell employes... Well, at least, they'll know where to look to improve their kit so it'll mature... the 360 is very poor, the Enzo is better... maybe the F430 will be as great as a Tamiya kit. They are progressing but...
