Re: Insurence Rates???

Looks like this post was made for me

I am an insurance agent. The "rating" that the insurance lady was talking about was the vehicle's "Symbol". Every car has a symbol. It goes from 1-9, and then A-Z. The closer to 1 the symbol, the less expensive the car will be to insure, the closer to Z, the more expensive (except for liability only cars....liability insurance is the same no matter what car you drive. get a quote for a 1990 honda civic liability only and a 2003 lexus liability only and it's the same rate).

The first get VR4's symbol is an S, and the 2nd gen VR's are a symbol V. MOST cars don't get symbols that high, except for high end luxury cars, haha.

So yes, the Camaro will be less expensive than the 3000GT due to the symbol of the Camaro being more to the left than the 3000GT.

Also, being a <25 male with a sports car is the worst thing you can do, you are getting triple dinged, lol.

However, at ages 19, 21, 23, 25, you will get a break in your rates. Make sure to keep a good driving record or it will keep going up if you get tickets.

Always always always let them know about modifications. Why? cuz if you do, they can insure them if something happens to your car, but if you don't, and you have a claim, they have every right to deny your claim, causing you to 1) have a busted car, and 2) could be liable for the other person's injuries, which could easily be hundreds of thousands of dollars. The thing is, is if you have quite a few performance modifications, they might not want to insure the car since all the customizations.

You would get the best rates by adding your car to your parents policy, because 1) you get the multi car discount 2) they are probably getting preferred rates, so your rate will be lower.

I live in Iowa, so thankfully my insurance is damn cheap. I'm 24 years old, male, and have 1 careless driving ticket on my record. I insure 2 cars, and total premium for both vehicles is $705 for 6 months.

Re: Insurence Rates???

Hmmm, hey check this out my parents want to insure me on there 1990 Dodge Caravan, it's a freakin' minivan, we have more than one car, more than one driver, my parent's driving records are pretty good, they pay 987 for 6 mon. When I asked for a quote as to me gettin' put on the insurence (I'm a 17 yr old male with a spotless record) they said the premium would increase to 2,500 for 6 months.

I pay $4,000/ year for my 95' 3kgt SL, i live in NJ and that's a rip off .... i can afford it and all, but i think that's what i should be paying for a VR4, not an SL. Newark, New Jersey, car theft capital of the nation. Four of my friends got their cars stolen within the course of only 7months, all hondas and 2 of them were found in Newark. Idk i guess one of the reasons why auto insurance is so damn high here, theft. I heard New Jersey is getting Geico tho! Almost every insurance company excludes jersey ..... i'm switchin over to geico as soon as they start service here! lol as well as millions of other ppl

Lol, I was surprised how low mine was, I pay around 2500/year I think and I'm 19, male, live near Boston. But the Insurance rates are fixed by the state so geico and others stay away anyways lol. Nitro I was jsut driving through Jersy on the turnpike a week ago, you have some god awful trafic down there, it was like 10:00 and the wait for the george washington bridge was over an hour, I was like , since when is there traffic after 7! I need to call my insurance company and tell them that I'm selling the car.... what would happen if I jsut stopped paying? Will they blacklist me or something lol?

And Nitro, you'll have no troubel finding a race down there, I saw alot of riced out cars and stangs and shit, to bad I was in my ex's camry wagon.

Re: Insurence Rates???

LOL I work for geico

Yes MA and NJ insurance laws have been shittfy for a long time, that's why most insurance companies don't write business there, but NJ changed their laws, so the insurance companies will slowly come back.
