Re: In Progress - Porsche Carrera GT

One has to appreciate a Porsche being Scuderia Red!

Re: In Progress - Porsche Carrera GT

The combo is just too nice! Who will want to build an Enzo now, if you can paint a beautifull Carrera Scuderia red?

I would . I have one in progress now, but of course my Enzo won't be red. I'll eventually run out of colors and have to build a red Ferrari someday.
I'm going to pull my hair out tackling both the Tamiya Carrera GT and the Enzo at the same time.

Nice color matching, Matt. The Titanium Gold should work very well with a red exterior. I feel bad that I didn't have my Porsche paint ready before you started your Carrera GT. Scuderia Red will look great but if you decide to change your mind on the color and keep it all German I'll set you up with some Guards Red that I have ready now. I also have GT Silver Metallic, but I don't think it would match up as well with the gold trim paint. Lemme know!

Re: In Progress - Porsche Carrera GT

Thanks for the offer, but I'm gonna give this build some Italian flavor, and stick with the Scuderia Red. After ordering this color from you, I knew it would look good on this body.

I also have a feeling a bunch of these will be built in Guards Red. So mine will be different, even if just a little.

Ironically enough, Tamiya calls out TS-8 (Italian Red) for a Guards Red version in the instructions.

Now in primer. I need to pick up another can of white primer. I ran out, and I'd like another coat or 2 on it to make the red really bright and vibrant. The grey body is still kinda showing through.

This car would look pretty good in white.

It does look very elegant in white. What is the primer you're using?

Re: In Progress - Porsche Carrera GT

So the Enzo is to drive on rainy days and the GT for when the sun is shining and you can take the top down? You're going to have a hot little garage, and your paint on the interior is just immaculate. Beautiful - you build clean models which to me is most important; box stock or detailed, it needs to be clean, and you've got it.

Re: In Progress - Porsche Carrera GT

Nice work.

Although the enzo could use another coat of white I think, because I can still see a red tint. so, unless I'm seeing things, give it another! Unless it's gonna be red anyways...

Either way, can't wait to see both finished!

Thanks for the great response to this build. It's definately a great motivator.

Cobra Colors - The primer I'm using is Tamiya White primer.
Willimo - I don't think I could take either of these gorgeous cars out in the rain. Thanks for the compliments.
Turbo monster - There's no red bleed through on the Enzo. That's white primer on the Yellow Enzo body.

Now on to some progress. The engine is done. I weathered the exhaust pipes and muffler. Also the PORSCHE script was highlighted in red to match the body color. Its a shame the weathering will be 90% hidden by the CF frame.

The brakes and front suspension is also complete.

Here's the pics.
