Re: why go sr20? or stick with the ka24?

i think the kid who started this forum should be banned hes a absolute jackass for starting this arguement once again. this argument always starts itself we dont need some dumbass to intentionally start this sr ka war just for the sake of arguement

Then why reply and add more to the argument? :P

Metal headgasket, ARP studs, Forged Pistons, Injectors & Fuel Pump, SAFC or some other fuel management... should be good enough to handle moderate boost.

REAlly I Wouldn't call all those parts stock internals. as listed on the web site it didn't have any of them listed, but your definitely right that is what u would need to run a solid high boos

That's my reasoning. If I had a 240, I'd probably go with an SR, mostly because the motor is probably in better shape then the KA I'd have.

Just to see if the stock KA was in good enough condition to add FI would take some money. Even if you don't have to replace/fix anything, you still have to get the turbo kit, etc.

I'd personally rather just get the SR and put it in rather than take apart my KA to see if it's running okay, then add the turbo kit and possibly build it up.

Anyone else have a hard time reading this^? The KA that made 404whp was a bone stock(internally)114,000 mile engine.

i don't like to be biasist(sp?) towards anyone or how they build their motor. but i am still going sr.

What happend what cause the engine to break down before the swap?? would it be safe to turbo a high miles ka engine??? with stock internalls

IT would probably be ok to run turbo on a high miles ka at low boost around 6psi, but iwouldn't suggest it. Go ahead and spend some money on some stuff like injectors and head gasget. www.phatka-t.com has a nice upgrade set-up like 700 bucks for new injectors fuel rail fuel pump fitings and some more stuff.

hmm, i've been considering the ca18det now, seems like a pretty nice and strong engine, and its ability to respond well to mods. i'm planning on going around 300-350rwhp, like most. plus, the motor set or front clip are cheap and drops right in easier than an SR, i think.

does anyone else here have a ca18det?? if so, what do you think of it?

how much would it cost for the whole sr engine with install.....with that money you could rebuild ka with after market parts.....so yea i think ka would be stronger then. And as far as turbo parts go your gonna want to buy new stuff for your sr20 so why not buy it for ka instead??? to me ka just seems way more efficient and easier to go with. Is the only reason these people want an sr is because it comes with a stock turbo that you probably are going to replace with a better one anyway??? so it just doesnt make sense to me??? you buy the turbo engine just to take that turbo off and replace it???? you probably going to want a new manifold, turbo, and fmic for your sr20 anyway....and thats what youd be buying to turbo a ka so.... i dont see where the waste of money is???? except for on the sr....

Re: why go sr20? or stick with the ka24?

yea its gotten to the point where every dumb ass kid comes up to me and asks dude are you going to swap the sr in...and im like fuck no...they're all puzzled and confused and i just say go away!!!! its seems like sr's are so bandwagony that all ricers know what they are now. im not saying ur a ricer because you have one, im just implying that all ricers ask that like its the pimp shit top of the line shit to do. Notice how everyone who just gets there 240 says they plan on the swap, reason being they hear and therefore think its the ultimate when they really dont know wtf there doing. Now some people do know wtf there doing and im not hating im just stating what the "sr" looks like in the big picture. granted i would do the swap also if i had 3 240s but i am only going to have 2, 1 daily driver stock as stock gets, and 1 turbod ka. I love both engines but as far as easiness and less hassle its ka for me. peace
