Same here. It gets to me sometimes when I was to pass somebody and the AT takes so damn long to downshift. Anyone know of any transmission mods to improve performance?

When you gas it, do you push the pedal *ALL* the way to the floor? In some cars that can be the difference.

Actually I went to lunch and found that as long as I am not going over 80 I can drop it into 2 and get a nice boost in speed then bring it back up to d (all the while od is turned off)

yeah- AT isn't really - THAT bad...

if u stomp on the gas- the car will just leap forward after it downshifts...

pretty strong.

And therein lies the problem. There's very little margin between a little surge and a big jump. Sometimes when I literally floor it on the highway, it'll drop to 3rd to 2nd and it'll be howling at 6K-6.5K rpm. I know it won't hurt the engine, but I don't see why it can't immediately drop into 3rd and hold it without me having to lockout OD.

I have the same feeling but just the opposite. I have to sit through stop and go traffic on my daily commutes and sometime I wish I had an auto in the traffic. But every car I've owned has been a manual so I've gotten used to driving in traffic. As long as there's no stopping traffic, manual rules!
