Re: best v6 for under 10,000 car

I'm sick and tired of this nonsense.
Have you even driven a 3.8 Camaro? And a 300ZX weighs just as much.....BTW 3300 pounds. Also...LOL if you think the 3.8 in the Camaro is the same as the old NA 3.8 from the 80's. There is the Series 1 GN..and the Series 2..Camaro....pretty big difference in NA form. 200 hp and 225 is very respectable....And wtf ..A Civic SI is hardly better than a Camaro V6 with a 3.8 and 5 speed.

As a matter of fact..a 1995 3.8 Camaro weighs LESS than a 95 300ZX N/A by 50 pounds....LOL..oh ya..but the Camaro is some big lumbering car compared to the 300ZX right?

http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc.s...&&&&newcarstab

And you say a 3.8 V6 Camaro doesn't compare to a SRT-4? Well no shit..but can you get an SRT-4 for under 10k? um no. Also..throw a turbo on the 3.8 and the SRT will be eating V6 Camaro lumbering and wheezing dust.

Re: best v6 for under 10,000 car

lmao a Civic SI will embarass a V6 camaro..

300ZX.. N/A I'm sure can take one.

Who care's in the first place? V6 camaro and a V6 mustang are NOT made for speed, They are made to be efficent and provide good gas mileage and somewhat respectible performance.

Re: best v6 for under 10,000 car

LOL you're full of crap too. Do some research before you talk.....a 160 hp and 132 (ANEMIC) tq 2782 pound car aint gonna embarrass a 200 HP and 225 (underrated) TQ 3250-3300 pound car.

Re: best v6 for under 10,000 car

Oh ya the 3.8 Camaro gets better overall gas mileage than
the 300 ZX and the same highway gas mileage as the Civic SI. Camaro gets 19 city and 30 highway.

Re: best v6 for under 10,000 car

You drive a V6 Camaro don't you?

Civic SI are capable of mid 15's, V6 camaro's, The best I have EVER seen was a high 15. It doesn't matter how much torque or HP you have, I've seen a 100hp Civic hatch run a 14..

You on crack?

EPA City: Civic:26 MPG ;Camaro:19 MPG
EPA Hwy: Civic:30 MPG ; Camaro:30 MPG

I'm not arguing over a Civic, and how it's better then a V6 camaro anymore.

Yes I drive a 1997 3.8 Camaro and I know a lot about them and a lot about cars in general. With a decent driver and decent weather a 95+ 3.8 Camaro with a 5 speed is capable of very low 15's to mid to high 15's. Shit even a majority of the auto's run in the 15's. You are most likely thinking of the 3.4 V6 in the 93-95 Camaro's with 160 HP and 200 TQ (they had the option of either the 3.4 or 3.8 in 1995) Camaro's. Read the link's and tell me I'm wrong...

Out of 155 Timeslips submitted for the N/A 1/4 times...only 9 of them are in the 16's. And a lot of them are stock.

I think it's time for you to see an optimologist. Either that or cut back on the rice.

Re: best v6 for under 10,000 car

I don't care if they do run 15's, It's still a V6 and will never be a real camaro IMO.

The reason I did the gas mileage thing is because you wrote that in a way i didn't understand it correctly.

Too much rice? I use to own a 4 door that would embarass a V6 camaro.

Oh ya? Would it embarrass these V6 Camaro's?

http://timeslips.firebirdv6.com/ look at the power adder list. The fastest is 11.864 and there are 6 in the 12's.....

N/A we have 4 in the 13's with the best being 13.654. Not bad for an embarrasing 3.8 V6 Camaro....

So what did your 4 door run?

Re: best v6 for under 10,000 car

So what kind of car is this 4 door? There have been cases of 3.8 M5 Camaro's/Firebird's (they are basically exactly the same..F-bodies) of running in the very high 14's stock....Also I bet your 4 door cost a shit load more that a used 95+ 3.8 F-Body.

1999 Contour SVT, only mod was a new air filter. Yes, it did cost more. $16,000.00 but I'm not in the mood to argue. drop it ,ok?

Re: best v6 for under 10,000 car

Forget it Josh, you'll never be able to convince a V6 Camaro/Mustang driver that thier cars are piles of crap- they're pretty much pretend-V8 drivers.

I was never mentioning any engines from the 80's by the way, I'm talking about the Recently replaced 3.8, my experiences of the V6 Camaro come from driving a friends one in the States (BIG mistake)- it sounded and felt just like a Commodore- they both used the Series II 3800 block after all, not good, not good at all.

The 300ZX was a whale, the heaviest Z ever, but at least it doesn't use a fricking live Rear axle (No matter how much you lot testify, the Solid rear end, DOES not help the Camaros handling in the least)- which certainly helped the car to outhandle a Camaro with relative ease or a Pushrod V6 (aka. a Rolling joke, let's face it, I've never seen a good Pushrod V6 before).

Re: best v6 for under 10,000 car

For 10 grand the best power to weight ratio you can buy is either a used eclipse turbo or a used v8 camaro. A GTP is a gretty good car if you absolutely want a v6. Remember, if the car is too old, handling will have gone to shit. The bushing will be worn, the shocks will have lost their dampening abilities, and the chassis will develop slop. Thats why I don't recommend a 300zx. Good car but the new ones cost more than 10,000 and the old ones are, well, old.
