Re: Top Speed Limiter
Its definately more than a 10 MPH raise.
As for the guy with the supercharger. If you dont have other mods, you really arent getting the most out of your power. Especially when you have 400 HP and your shift points are stock, your throttle response is normal, and you have the 95 MPH limit. Spend some cash and get a Hypertech and a Venom Control Module. Two mods worth it if you ask me. I have less raw power than alot of people heavily modded... But my truck runs alot better than most of the guys I have raced, just because my engine responds better.

Re: Top Speed Limiter
Very interesting..... However, this from the Hypertech FAQ Site:
The Power Programmer III, available for 1994-97 LT1 and LT4 cars and 1996-2001 Vortec Trucks, allows the user to set the top speed limit to match the speed rating of the tires that have been installed on the vehicle. I assume this to mean that if I tell it I added on a set of Z rated tires it will allow me to set it to the max.... Because of the Whipple Supercharger computer I can only mess with the Top Speed Limiter on any given programming devise. |

Re: Top Speed Limiter
not sure about pp3 but the pp1 for my 2000 only went to 129 over that i think you will need a custom program

Re: Top Speed Limiter
PP3 is the same it goes by tire rating and 129 is high as it goes. I seriously doubt my truck will go that fast (129) I was heading down a 6% grade coming out of the mountains when I pegged my speedo at 120 (Hey at least I'm honest) and that was pushing it with all she had downhill.

Money is not the issue here. The Whipple SuperCharger has its own computer. It runs in syn with the stock computer and assumes comand for all functions EXCEPT the Top Speed Limiter. The Installation Manual warns against altering the stock computer with the exception of the Top Speed Limiter. That will be priority number ONE! As for mods: My '99 Silverado has had its trans, rear-end, intake, exhaust system, brakes and suspension modified. I was going to install headers, but am putting that on hold for awhile. The faulty gas gauge and a water injection system is being installed. The TSL is next! BTW: Estimated HP will be up around 450 and NO PLACE TO GO FAST. I live on an ISLAND! |
