And information about the rigth clutch??

I want to get about 180 hp or more, without a turbo or swap engine, please help me to do this.

Maybe an MSD 6A could help ?

Thanks

1.5L so you either have a Standard or a DX, either way you can get maybe 5hp from the mods listed, so you will be at about 78 or 98 crank hp, subtract 10-15% for whp.

CAI ~ 5hp w/ MPFI engine, less w/ DPFI engine
cam pulley ~ 0 w/o dyno tuning
cranck pulley ~ 0 (same effect as lighter wheels)
iridium spark plugs ~ -5 to 0 depending on the condition of your ignition system, you may loose power
nology wires ~ 0
new clutch ~ 0

This all assumes you are replacing good stock parts.

Re: modifications

the light flywheel and racing clutch can be found on ebay for a pretty good price. Get ACT if possible. For the Plugs and wires just go to autozone and get a set of bosch wires with NGK plugs. Then order an MSD dizzy cap and an MSD ignition coil too. And if you dont have them already just get a simple short ram intake and a full catback exhaust with a header. And the MPFI swap with a DX or SI tranny are a good idea too.

Yeah, my sis put an aftermarket crank pulley on there. The bottom end had never been opened, and there had been ZERO fuckin problems. 14-15k miles later, her engine siezed. The bearings had worn enough to cause a nice gouge. She didnt drive it hard except at the strip (probably no worse than you drive your car) and it got fucked. You explain to me how an untouched bottom end gets beat like. Believe what the fuck you want SiZ, but for me seeing is believing and i saw it.

Re: modifications

How many miles were on her engine? Do you know how well it was cared for prior to her owning it? Who installed the crank pulley for her?! Do you know how many variables there are? Some Honda motors don't even have a harmonic dampener from the factory.

If installed properly, your sisters crank pulley quite likley isn't the reason the motor pooped out.

BTW - No one drives their car harder than mine. Well, probably a few people but mine sees 8k a couple times a day.

Re: modifications

If it fucked her bearings it was cheep and unbalanced. The pulley is unsprung weight, meaning it has nothing to do with the balance of the rotating mass. If the pulley is not properly balanced then it will throw off the rotation and kill bearings.

I would suggest to ditch the 1.5, They are not power making engines. Get a B16A if you want simple swap with more power, or go like B16 or H22 or something if you want more complicated. You could throw every aftermarket part at a D15 and it wont get to 180hp.

Re: modifications

well, If you can do it more power to you, realisticly I dont think it would happen. Well not for less than a motor swap would cost anyway.

Re: modifications

Homemade turbo? $800? yeah, thats what I spent on mine, the D15 lasted 2 weeks, but at 12psi it had to be more than 180hp.

It blew from a siezed wrist pin @ 4krpm, NOT detonation.

Re: modifications

He said he did not want to turbo, so i was not including boosting. No dout in my mind you could make 180 with turbo or supercharger, but without I dont think you could without throwing gobs of money at it.

Re: modifications

I think it could be done N/A, it would be difficult, but a fun challenge.

Or you could just copy someone, I'm 99% sure there are a couple guys from H-T who have done it. The D15 has a better R/S than the D16, so it should be able to handle the required high RPMs.

the engine had ~50k on it when she had phanstasm (local performance shop) install it. They are halfway fairly reputable, but who knows? The previous owner was a 35 year old secretary. She had maintence records from every oilchange and such. You may be right, there are other factors, but I will choose never to use aftermarket pullies on my car

Re: modifications

you could get 180 whp from a d15, go y8 or z6, pistons for at least 12.5:1.. and nitrous, Bisimoto or similar header, and built head, cam, etc. Prolly wouldnt be able to run on pump gas. Check out EXOSPEED.com they have some real nice non-vtec head packages for d-series.

not much. it would be cheaper to get p29 pistons from a ZC/d16a1.. i cant remember if you can use them in a d15 tho...
