Honda can do anything. Look at what they did at the indy 500 hundred 8 of the 9 top qualifiers where hondas. its like hmmmm i guess we will just take over indy car racing... and just like that honda does it. They know what they are doing. If they wanted to make a N/A 270 hp all wheel drive civic that weighed under 3000 lbs that could seat 4 people... they wouldn't have a problem. Oh yeah. and they (honda) won the indy 500 i believe but i am not sure.

Of course they could do it. The problem is it would run at least $30-35k, and who is going to pay that much for a Civic?
I like Civics, but i'd never drop that much coin to get one. For that money i'll take a 350z or a G35 coupe.

nah probably not actually, it would probably be about 20-25 range just like all the other all wheel drive cars. Why would honda make a car that is that much more expensive than the rest of the competition? You can get a 350z for 26,000 OTD price i am sure because they are selling them with a 26,000 sticker price where i live. Also, those cars are not all wheel drive.

If Mitsu can make a GSX, I think Honda can handle an all wheel drive civic

Re: New Civic 2005?

There are already awd (maybe 4wd?) Civics from back in the day (the 80's), so I'm sure they could do it if they wanted to. Of course they'd have to work on it a little more if they wanted to make a lot more power and not have the drivetrain blow out.

Re: New Civic 2005?

they need to just stop making the civic. they started with a good idea in 1988, revamped it and made it a little smoother in 1992, peaked in '95, made a gallant attempt at gaining back some respect in 99-00...then comes 2001..... the year that honda died and was reborn as an american car company with overly large and shitty underpowered cars.

You're forgetting the Civic wasn't built or designed with the intent of racing or having lots of power out of the box. It was made to be a small, well designed/enigneered car that also is very economical to own and operate, as well as being reliable. It's that simple. That is what your average Civic buyer is looking for. If you want to step up to higher performance, you have to spend more money to get an Accord or S2K, or move up to an Acura. Cars are positioned within the lineup to be purchased by a certain demographic (ideally). That being said, an ideal Honda customer would buy a succession of cars like this:
Civic - entry level compact/teen to mid-20's
Accord - family sedan/late 20's into 30's or 40's (start making money in career)
S2K - sports car/40's or 50's (kids are moved out, want to relive youth)
Acura TL or RL - sports/luxury sedan/50's or 60's

This is what most car companies shoot for. They try to keep people within the family by providing a vehicle for each phase of life, so to speak. If you think Honda's are underpowered and not worth it, then get something else. If Honda was worried about their cars being underpowered compared to their competitors, then they would do something about it. But it's obviously not affecting their sales, as they are way ahead of everyone else from Japan (aside from Toyota).

You mean Toyota is actually selling more then Honda? ... How? There actually selling Camrys? The only thing I've ever really like from Toyota was the Supra, and they stopped making that. The Celica isn't to bad though.
