Re: blow-through mod

the longer your ic pipes are the harder your turbo will have to work to create more pressure right? probably not noticable but might as well do it right the first time. shortest distance between 2 points is straight line so shorter is better. also joe why wouldnt you get a MAFt with dsmlink? does dsmlink have features that would work like or better than the MAFt?

Re: blow-through mod

MAFt and DSMlink are really two seperate products with two seperate roles. I use both together. MAFt just to use the better MAF, and DSMlink to tune, and everything else it does.

Updated the page with more pics. I'll get some better "finished" pics up later. Kinda sloppy here but you get the idea.

i read in a sport compact car mag a while ago that the bov should be placed close to the throttle body becuase thats where the most pressure is at. dont know if it really matters tho.

Re: blow-through mod

The pressure spike, and reverse pressure wave, will originate at the TB. But the source of the rising pressure is still the turbo. I dont think it matters much. One advantage to having it closer to the TB though is you keep the momentum of the air moving towards the motor, not backflowing away from it. We'll see how much of an effect this has, my tial is before my FMIC Just no room on that uicp with the 4" intake pipe in place. .

Re: blow-through mod

damn 4 inch intake pipe. take a pic for me under the hood. so you really cant tell a difference wehre the bov is at? does it matter if the MAFt is before or after the bov?

Re: blow-through mod

The MAFt has to be after the BOV, since I have to run it vented. There is a pic on my page on my site. In the mod list, click on the 3.5" MAFt item, and there is also a link to it in the tech pages. I need to get a "finished" pic, but those give you an idea of what it looks like. I dont yet know how it works witht he BOV in the LICP, still waiting for it to get welded tomorrow.

Re: blow-through mod

The software is also specific to the generation, since they have different MAS curves. So be sure to order the right one.

Re: blow-through mod

Funny you mention that, I have a polished valve cover I'm going to install today. I've had it for some time. My brother took it to work a year ago and has been working on it when he doesnt have much to do. Found after though it had some cracks, so I took it off to JB weld it from the inside. After 2 months, I think its dry

Re: blow-through mod

Ok... Kevin, did you ever mount the BOV on the LICP?

On thursday I finished the blow thru setup and MAF + T install... Now I need to move my BOV on the other side of the MAF. I thought about putting it on the J-Pipe but I am not sure yet... Any ideas? Here are some pictures of the install. (Thanks to Kevin for the pics of his setup, I had to be a copy cat)

Before...

After...

Thinking about putting it on the J-Pipe under the upper radiator hose... Just cause its out of range of water and other shit. Throw out some ideas. Thanks guys.

No... Before, like BOV - MAF - Throttle body. The way it is right now is wrong.
