There's no reason that they would melt anything.
9005 have less bulb life than 9006. many people with the conversion say they burn out rather quickly.

regular 65w 9005 conversion won't melt wiring, but if you want very bright lights without HID, with a harness upgrade you can run a 80-100w 9005 bulb conversion without melting wires(common with higher watts) and is much very bright.

Or you can use 80-100w 9006 bulb, which has longer life than 9005, and will be much brighter than stock. Also, with the harness, you will get the full power of the bulb because there's no voltage drop like stock. which mean longer bulb life. sounds very good for a cheap $40 mod.

When i get mines, i'll see how it works out. i'll give me the ability to run just about any bulb safely.

Wow, cool thanks Integrasedan. I'm leaning heavily towards the harness upgrade....

Yea for some reason my projectors came only fitting the 9005 bulbs in both slots, at first I was pissed, but after i flicked on the headlights, I noticed they were way better than the lights in my other hatch and I havent had any wires go out on me since then, I'm gonna convert my other hatch headlights soon when i get a chance, the lighting is awesome.

And where would you go about getting the harness upgrade? Not that I plan on getting one, just wondering incase I decide to go higher voltage with 9005 bulbs.....

9005 bulbs! $10 and 10 minutes of your time for better lighting.

OK, so I got the kit and installed it... unfortuantely, it switched my lights so now my brights are the regs. and the regs. are brights... IE: I turn on my regular lights, and my brights turn on.... flip on my brights, and the regs add to the already on brights. so does this "increase the voltage" or just switch the lights so you think you are running your brights???
