Re: Technical Questions On Your Camaro? Haynes Manual!

I agree with Vetteman... If you want to start working on your own car the manual is great to have.. I know my car inside and out, and I still go back to the haynes or chilton once and a while There are a lot of questions asked here that can be answered in the book, for example testing the fuel pump, and fuel pressure.. or ignition system etc etc etc.. Not that I mind lending my opionion to the more simple questions.. Thats what we're here for right? But I also think that its a really good starting point for the DIY'r

Re: Technical Questions On Your Camaro? Haynes Manual!

The haynes manual is over rated , its very basic. Try to look up how to install a reluctor ring or any tranny Info , besides how to change the fluid. Also I've looked through the diagnostic section in mine and it's 2 or 3 possible cause for problem's that could be a million different things and There are tricks to doing every job that arn't addressed by a manual

Re: Technical Questions On Your Camaro? Haynes Manual!

I find it didnt go into enough detail about the Flux capasitor.. I looked everywhere and the book didnt say a damn thing about it.. Good thing you guys are here...

Good point how are you going to go back to 1985 to introduce your parents and save the doc if the manual left out the flux capasitor

Belive it or not FormulaLT1, Not everyone here already knows how to change their transmission fluid, or possibly even their oil, and think that 85% of Camaro owners would find the haynes manual VERRY usefull.

there's also another manual you can get, cant think of the name of it tho. it's lots more discriptive and detailed but also costs more. haynes manual sucks when it comes to wiring diagrams. it show's how it's basically set up, but lots of circuits are left out. haynes manual is more of a tune up guide, doesn't really go through servicing. theres also many many typo's, that doesn't reflect the company very good
