Re: Re: Revelations and the End of the World?

Soyo said that nothing in the Bible could be dissproven, I'm simply asking him how this is possible, when these event happened thousands of years ago, and most evidence has long since dissapeared, or perhaps never even existed.
While I believe that the history represented by the Bible is rooted in fact, to say that predictions of things that haven't happened yet are more valid than predictions from other people of things that haven't happened yet is sort of rediculous.

Re: Revelations and the End of the World?

Well in essence he was right that these things can't be disproven. You are right also that they can't be proven either. Things in the Bible were written by witnesses to the events. If you don't believe eyewitnesses then I guess there is no proof. I'm glad our court system doesn't work like that.

Re: Revelations and the End of the World?

I hate to drag politics into this delightfully heated thread but it's just to stay with the topic at hand.
Why is it that the Bush administration which is almost compleatly made up of evangelical christians.
Who, take the bible word for word without question.
Go about the business thinking they are doing god's will and whatever they are doing is good for one ticket to heaven.
And yet the rest of the world see's this as the most unholy, evil thing that a person can do.
And many think that they (Bush and his henchmen) are the one's trying to bring the end of days into the forfront.
How backwards is that?

Re: Revelations and the End of the World?

I don't know how Bush believes. I don't know if he takes the Bible word for word without question. I don't know if he believes he is doing Gods will. I don't know how you would know that either. I doubt he thinks it's a one way ticket to heaven. Most Christians don't believe works will get you to heaven.
Who are the many that think he is trying to bring the end of days?

Re: Revelations and the End of the World?

Bush is simply smart enough to know that 70% of the worlds oil comes from the middle east, and if terrorist groups overthrow the governments in those middle east contries then they will controll 70% of the oil and the rest of us are screwed and will either pay outragious prices for it or won't use it at all

you can't say you know his beliefs or that he follows them or that he thinks its his one way ticket because I doubt you know him, and even if you did I doubt you talked to him about that.

Re: Revelations and the End of the World?

yay for getting back on topic. :ahem:

end time prophecies are fun to read, but really, if state something vaugly enough, it will come true, especially if you dont give a specific time frame. one example is horoscopes. they are creativley stated in a way that will make them seem to come true given a variety of actual occurences. "you will make a wise business transaction today" for a no job slacker like myself, this could be a simple as buying a dr pepper....for a business man, this could be a wise blue chip stock purchase. in both cases, it came true.

to say "the beast will walk the earth" is pretty vague. Hitler and Stalin were pretty beasty, but were still here fifty years later. so id like to know when this beast is supposed to be here.

oh, soyo...prove the jonas and the whale thing. i mean really. a man gets eaten by a whale, lives in there for a while, and then get regurgatated. (man, ive always wanted an rx-7)

and as for it being eye witness testimony...man, tell ya what. go pick up any basic pyschology 101 text book and read about how accurate eye witness testimony is. you'll find its actually quite inaccurate, which is why most court cases today do not rely on testimony.

and as for Bush...do a search on it. youll find a alot fo liberal propoganda that quotes Bush on various topics saying that he listens to god, and that he believes god is ok with his presidency and what hes doing in the middle east. take it with a grain of salt, but some of its pretty valid, and very scarey

They aren't always stated vaguely. Do a search through the Bible and you will find specific examples.

These people that quote Bush are eyewitnesses? (You know where I'm going with this don't you?)

i shall, ive never actually read revelations, so this should be interesting. but my initial point goes the other way too...as refering to interpretation of these prophecies.

yes, i do...but tape recorders and video camera's are pretty accurate . I doubt these liberal outlets misquoted Bush, but i dont doubt that they took the quotes out of context of the conversation and placed them into the context of an article to make it look worse than it is.

though apparently America is the great satan to some, and our rise in power is the rise of the beast refered to in the end times stuff...its fun to look at peoples different perspectives.

have you read the bible code? written by a man who does not believe in the bible, and is still so stubborn not to beleive in it that he is now believing that it was written by aliens

well(making this short, if you really wan to find out look it up) they put the bible in a computer, in the original hebrew text with the translation from english, and can find any event thats ever happend within the codes, because if reading there writtings in any way(up down left or right, or diagnol) there are written foretellings about everything! even up to the twintowers.

sound confusing? ahh well, i don't feel like typing a bunch, like i said look it up if you care

Re: Revelations and the End of the World?

I have read the bible from beginning to end and if you do not believe in God and the bible that is your choice. I would like to find one person that has in fact read the whole thing and does not believe. It changed my life profoundly. Not to get to far off topic.

Re: Revelations and the End of the World?
