Good Point...
If everyone refuses to pay it, then your right.
So how do we organize a mass Boycott of the EVO VII price, IF, that is, IF it is marked up alot? And you rEVOlution, what is your deal, The Lancer the U.S. has right now, was posted $1000-$1500 over MSRP, in my area. You are rgiht in the fact that they are going to keep it focused on the College Kids, but dealers are scoundrels, and who knows what they will do. Your right it could be an older article, The reason I posted it is to get discussion on new things that people have heard. That is the first time I've seen it, and I visit the site about every two weeks, so if it's outdated then I'm sorry, but I don't think it is. Because not just 3 weeks ago, every body was saying, " oh $30,000, that blows" and stuff like that. So heres some hope for all those people who want one. Lets post some discussion articles that people can see and look at. Just my 2 cents

Hey man that's cool...i was keeping everyone's hope up about the dealer markups...
Now if you want to talk about DEALER MARKUP's...Take the Skyline GT-R for example...when that gets here it'll be around 80k wiiiith....i'd say about a 10-15k markup. That i can see because they are in high demand. The VII is just an attempt at getting college kids to blow there money. Now THAT's a markup. You guys got ripped off over there in...where ever you are land....1k-1.5k markup. Well...when you think about it it's not that bad of a markup. About right actually. SOoooo keep it cool raceghost... |

i'd take a mark-up as long as it wasnt more than $5k over msrp. thats how bad i want my evo hehe. but if the mark-up pushes the msrp over $30-32k, i am out of the running
then i'll look into importing one or maybe get a supra. they are pretty cool too, not near as fantastic as the evo but hey, i gotta drive somethin lol.

30K too much? nope!
I think this car is even worth more than 30K and if we can get one out the door for around 30K, we're lucky enough. This thing is a rallye car in street car disguise. Don't even compare it to an STI, that's an Impreza turbo. Compare it maybe to an STI.. it's not just more horsepower that is different you know...

Seriously, the car will be under 30K PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will sell 0 Evos if you are charging 35-40K even if it comes over in tact. Anyone who is saying that is wrong. And at that price, you can forget about competing with Subaru.

exactly. the evo HAS TO compete with the WRX STi price-wise; american consumers, by and large, don't understand why they should buy an evo instead of the wrx. add to that all the positive press the wrx has gotten and the fact that most americans have no bloody clue what an evo is, and that puts them in a pretty bad situation in the market.
they may not end up doing it, but they should sell as close to j-spec as possible at a reasonable price, at least in the beginning. once the word gets out to the unwashed masses that this car is the stuff, they can name their price. if they charge too much, or remove too many features, they will not sell as well as they might, and it would put the company into an even worse financial situation. just because this is logical, however, does not mean they will do it that way. we'll just have to wait and see |
