You guys don't seem to really like FWD? I agree.

gues what?? evryone knows that! but not really. you will have much more torque! but hp...no. the S15 SR20DET has about 250hp at the crank. thats a bit less than what you claim in your KA. now the reason we dont like KA's that much, is that it is heavier, not so high revving, and the SR20 has greater potential! but most people dont know this cause they dont read magazines!

know how much will this S15 SR20DET cost? let alone how hard will it be to find one? about 2 years ago when i was deciding what i want to do with the car, i searched everywhere, and i found that the S15 SR20DET would be nearly impossible to find, and the engine itself would cost close to 5000 alone. sorry not worth the money. even the S14 SR20DET is not all that great. i know a person with the S14 SR20DET which comes with a T28 turbo and variable valve timing, in his S14 that and supporting mods, i still beat him, and i was untuned at the time with less mods. trust me i read magazines alot and i know plenty of people with SR's in person ( not on the web ) so i would know more about it then you do. so how is a 2.4 liter goin to have less potential then a 2.0 liter?

sheesh i'm soo tired of listing these things but here we go again

both engines have forged rods,
both engines have forged crank ( KA's being stronger )
both engines have piston cooling oil squirter ( only turbo engines have these)
the KA have a iron block which is stronger then a alumium one
the KA have a better valve train ( direct cam on bucket style instead of the SR's rocker arm style ) you try to rev a SR too high the rocker arms will fly out, that is why they sell rocker arm stoppers that you put inside the valve cover.

so how is a SR more potent then a KA? the tiny stock T25 ain't gonna give you real power anyways, not to mention the stock tiny ass 370cc injectors, or the small 2.5 inch mass air flow meter that maxes out at around 300hp. so for the SR20DET ( the older non S15 versions ) to hit over 300hp, you would need to upgrade the MAF to a 300ZX 3 inch version, upgrade the injectors to support more hp, ( which means you need a SAFC to tune ) and the most important of all you need to buy a larger turbo to give you more power then 300hp. you see the SR has plenty of limitations most of them i just listed. so lets see you spend around 4000 for a swap for a S13 redtop. that doens't include the FMIC or the boost controller to raise your boost to make decent power. and then after around 5000-6000 grand your making 300hp yahhh what a good bargain!!!! i spend around 3000 for my setup, granted i am also limited by the same things as the SR, such as the 370cc injectors that i gladly took from a SR, and the stock MAF tops out at around 300hp as well. but i'm only running 9 psi, and that whp i have is outdated i have done a few more tricks and i'm probrably making 250-260ish at the wheels. which is a quit a bit over 300hp ( more close to 320hp ) and the rebuild of my engine will cost around 2000, plus better fuel management ( 1000 tops ) and i spend 6000 for close to 500 hp. the SR can't touch that sorry. considering that the S15 SR alone cost close to 5000 and thats not even including install and your only goin to be making around 210 whp. don't make me laugh.

P.S. you have been owned!!!

1st of all, you never posted anywhere anything about money! of course it will be way cheaper to get a KA24 into the 300hp. i know you have to do alot of work to get up there, but whats the strongest KA24 youve seen? il take the SR20 over the KA, one of my reasons is because i love engines that rev. the SR revs a bit more than the heavy KA, which even tho it may be stronger, you still need to sleave and shit after 300hp. ill take a KA24 and fix it for a dragster, but anything else ill take a SR20. of course, like i said, if money wasnt a issue. and i dunno where youve been, but now days(not 2 years ago) there's S15 SR's everywhere! its benn proven time and time again how people just give up at trying to fix a KA and end up geting a SR20. who in the real racing world, drag racing, drifting, etc. uses a KA24??? think about it in the big picture... yeah....

I would beg to differ on that. Alfa Romeo is grilling BMW on the european rancing series and they use FWD cars.

however in this comparison I'll chose the 240SX

there are quit a few 400-500whp KA24's. i have never heard of anyone needing to sleeve a KA. most 400-500whp SR20's uses a stroker kit to up the displacement to a 2.2 liter. why go thru all that trouble when you can have the larger displacement in the first place? and another thing i was stating facts with numbers and logic, your arguement is purely on opinion. i was defending the KA and is stating that the SR is even though a very good engine, it was quit overrated. you know nothing of the two engines yet you try to argue with facts. fine enjoy blowing your money away.

also KA's are quit good at autocrossing with its good low end torque. now for the race track, you can the same power out of a KA running less boost so its less stress on the engine, and the low end tq will help it in the corners. the boost will also come on sooner if i use the same size turbo for the SR. i am more of a drag racer/ high end highway racer. its not everyday that i can go up the LIME ROCK and race at a race course. that is why i choose to go with a T04B instead of a T3. so yes at a road course with my setup, a SR will eat me up with its better power delivery compared to my laggy T4.becuase i am not building my car for something that will barely ever do, and i highly doubt you will go road racing either if you had a SR. however on the highway where high end matters, then T4 will beat almost any stock turbo SR.

and BTW the people who blow up KA's don't know shit about turbos. i've been running my KA for over a year and over 20K miles and its still fine with no smoke blowing out and i burn less oil then a brand new STI and EVO 8. so take that for reliablity. its idiots who don't knwo what da hell they're doing who blow up KA's. if the SR didn't come turbo from the factory, and you do the same shit to it like how some people turbo KA's, that shit will blow too. no matter how strong a engine is built if your knocking the shit out of it, it will freaking blow in a matter of minutes. i know a guy who also has a KA-T and he is on his 2nd engine and recently he blew out cylinder number 3 and had to get another rebuild. he is not very good with mechics nor have alot of experience to know whats really going on or how to trouble shoot. that is why i even admitted myself, if you don't know shit about turbo cars or how they run or how the ECU takes in data from the input and the outputs and the reaction of every conditions that would effect engine parameters. then don't bother turboin the KA because you will blow shit up. so for amatuers who wants the easy way out swap in a SR and spend more money. but for us who likes a challenge and who wants to be different and who wants to prove a point and blow any SR i see away for very little money pick a KA. by the end of this summer to the end of fall, i should be making over 400whp by investing less then 3.5K more. and once again the car will be daily driven.

we are both nissan lovers, why are we even fighting over this? i have my believe you have your believe, i stated the facts, and the reasons. its up to you if you want to listen and atleast think realistically. yes a SR will beat me at a road course, but how often do i race at a autoX or a road course? so far i have never, not even once. i don't feel like waking up at 6, and waiting for tech inspection at 7:30 in the morning. however i have encoutered many highway races, and many drag races, and my KA setup served me well enough. saying your car is good at something that you do'nt do means nothing if you do'nt actually apply it. thats all i'm saying.

look man, yeah, i wont argue anymore, but your the one who started it. ill just drop it. yes i know, and ill say it again. KA is a good engine. i would love to fix a KA-T just to drag race, but like i said before, im all about SR's. keep up the good work.

honestly guy ive seen plenty of MODDED mustangs around here get devored by 240sx's sorry to have to tell you that. dont want to start another argument on imports-domestics, but i bet all of those 240's that got eaten by the mustangs were not made to go straight like the mustangs. drag race=mustang..road course=240sx.

It's all good brother just homeboy seems to think (and something tells me you're the same) that if it's a 240sx it'll beat any mustang (or anything for that matter). Just isn't the way it is. I have no doubt that some 240SXs can. On the track I san see that as most 5.0 stangs have a live axle and aren't great track cars. I have seen a few that were build to do so and did so well. I don't hate 240s as a matter of fact older Nissans are my favorite imports (300ZX, 240SX, 280ZX, Skylines etc.) along with Supras and RX-7s. I guess where you come from 240SXs rule the streets. Just saying honestly 5.0 stangs run them most places I've been (yes I'm talking drag racing and I'm not even a drag racing fan, and as far as Mustangs go I really don't even care for the 5.0s) That's just how it is. If you think I hate imports for that I'm sorry you think that. Hell I'm with you and don't want to start another import -vs- domestic arguement either. I like and dislike plenty of domestics and imports (mainly all FWD ones) I think a 240SX is sweet with a moderate body kit, descent (lip) spoiler, a quality exhaust (non fart trumpet) and without gawdy stickers. My friend Rocky had a fox mustang with a 351 stroked to a 454 and an INCON twin turbo set up backed by a D&D built T56 6speed. Nothing on the street could touch it, believe me there were plenty of import guys who thought they could and would say because it was American it couldn't hang but each one made an excuse when coughing up the cash. All this after I would look at there Supra or RX-7, Skyline what have you and compliment them on it. I mean hell I'd give props where they were do and then get clowned, it's that kind of "import fan" attitude I hate. It use to be only Chevy guys were that way, I mean I'm not a brand loyalist either I love good chevys, fords, dodges, toyotas, etc. Yet they would clown on my friends stang then loose and moke excuses what's that!? Just saying I haven't seen to many 240SXs drag race anyway, but the ones I have seen didn't fair that well, not just against stangs either I've seen 1 race a Supra and another race an RX-7 both lost, and yet a 3rd loose to a Camaro. I'm not claiming 240SXs suck or can't beat anything I'm sure they can, it's just that idiot seem to think they are unbeatable my point is nothing is unbeatable (something you can't seem to convince import fans of), I never witnessed anyone beat my friend's stang but I'm pretty sure somewhere there was something that could. I think a 240Sx would make a great track car though I might choose an EVO or WRX. If I were to build an import it would be either a Supra, RX-7, Skyline (good luck there), 300ZX, or 240SX (not in order) and 1st choice would most likely be 240SX considering price, value, looks, and all factors.
The car I'm building is an older mustang restomodified with updated driveline and suspension for track use so that should tell you I'm not really a drag racing fan.
