Grrrr - the ISO test is done with the DB thingie mounted about 1 meter high and a couple of meters sideways from the test. The car enters the area in 3rd gear and drives past. I can see the police turning the noise test into a complete farce.

My thoughts are that it could be contested in court - if the police can't do a test that will stand up in court (ie to ISO standards) the case will get pushed out.

Once I find out a bit more about this issue I'll be writing a few letters to government ministers asking for clarification. Anyone have a link to the news article?

I am sure there are enought people in car clubs and owner of modified cars to actualy have some political clout I am sure. The problem with partitions are they are never get looked at, just filed in some filing cabinet for the years to come. What is needed is a draft letter be made up place it on the web, every one download it and sign it, then post it to the local polys. As it being a letter they have to read it ....

Nah partitions don't work in NZ.

If you send a letter or email to a MP, by law they have to at least reply to let you know they got it. I've written a few both snail mail and email (though my most recent email exchange with the minister of fisheries dept was like banging my head against a wall only not as productive and fun)
