its a good car, but its by no means good for that price. Its actually not worth 20k at all. Id rather just get an RSX S , it would have much lower miles and a 6 speed tranny. Its just stupid how the Type R is the price it is, i could understand a few grand over the GSR price, but not a ridiculous amount. its not worth it at all.

Re: How much does a Type R cost?

I would love to drive a Type R around the track, but I would never own one. The majority of Type-R's have been broken into stolen and stripped, thats why the price is still sky high.

I couldnt sleep at night with an ITR outside... I'd hafta protect it with a shotgun... thats why I bought a faster, RWD, less risky sports car...

Re: How much does a Type R cost?

There are R's for sale all around my area, an 97-98 mainly goes for about 15 to 17 while an 00-01 are still strongly in the 20;s. Ill tell you when, having owned both a GSR & Type-R the differences are enormous. The stability and ridgidness in the Type-R is so much higher than the GSR. I used to AutoX my R in Philly and I ran my Turbo GSR around the same track setup. The Type-R ( which only had a AEM CAI ) was slightly quicker around the 35 second course mainly due to the tires, brakes and the stiffness. My GSR has hugh power but not the legs to back it up. The differences never became so apparent until you race both of them. I would buy an R anyday over a RSX/Supra/RX-7 but not an EVO or 350Z.

Actually they do still make the type R. Just not in the U.S. They do have a type r in Japan. It is the RSX body DC5, but in japan RSX's are called honda integra's. I have herd rumour that the new R is going to be coming into the U.S. but who knows. It was just a rumour.
