Re: Re: Bov

dumping it can cause stalls during idle and also cause it to run rich during shifts. the ECU is set up to have that extra charge dumped back in, so when it isn't it messes with the ECU. i can dump mine with no problems and with the adjustability of the type-s i just change the strength and it blows nice and i don't get compresser surge or late BOV opening.

Re: Bov

so the question remains how do you make you bov loud without venting into the atmosphere...what aftermarket bov is loud and runs back to the intake.

Re: Bov

I like the HKS SSQV BOV as well. Sweet sound. HKS is a pretty nice company I think.

If not the HKS than the Greddy S.

Re: Bov

Greddy type R and S , HKS SSV , 1g Eclipse are others. Basically there all lound enough to be noticed. The all sound a little diffrent from each other. The HKS sounds like a wheezing kid with asthma to me.

To get more sound you will have to get an intake filter. Get rid of the dump tube comming inside the intake tube.

To me, that makes it loud enough.

Re: Bov

But if you get rid of the dump tube dont you have problems with your ECU still thinking that you have the same amount of air flowing as you did before causing too much fuel to pass?

Re: Bov

The dump tube extends into the intake more than you think. It actually blocks intake air to a point. Trim it flush inside the intake tube.

Re: Bov

yea AmericanEagle is right that is one of the first things i did to my car after i got it. I chopped that dump tube off. check out this page it tells you how to do it in a few easy steps. It takes about 30 min and it is well worth it. http://www.tgilmore.com/talon/dumptube.html

The STOCK intake pipe is what you 'cut' the dump tube from the inside. If you get a Dejon pipe, you don't have to do any work to it. If you get a filter and that Dejon intake, you will hear your BOV louder. There is NO way to make a BOV louder without venting it (bad). Some brands happen to be louder/different sounding. You can vent using some expensive electronics. If you're interested in spending ~$400-1200 dollars for 'a louder sound', let me know and I'll continue.

Re: Bov

Lol, no thank you...i wasn't wanting the sound...just the performance. The 400-1200 will go to something more important! Like the UICP and BOV. Thanks been a lot of help!
