But you have an si and it's way different the base model. Is it okay for my car to shift at 3k to 4k rpm?

Re: 5 spd shifting

It's perfectly fine to shift @ 3-4,000RPM. Your engines powerband doesn't start until it's around 4,000rpm anyway.

Sometimes I wish my trans had a 1.5 gear, that 1st is too short. I use 2nd gear from stops a little too much, burnin' up my clutch in the process.

So true, so true. Again this morning on the way to work I shifted at 2500 thru 5th gear. I was at 42MPH in fifth. I also would love a 1.5 gear.. stop and go traffic with the Si tranny is not alot of fun.

I don't really think that's right. Being able to chirp tires is not a sign of bald tires. It's just the opposite; the tires are catching traction. When the tires chirp; for instance, from 1st to 2nd, the chirping sound is the power travelling through ur tires and the power being put to the ground. There's a difference if they're slipping between shifts or if your wheels hop...but if they chirp, they catch traction. It would be good if you could chirp all gears, then ur getting perfect traction between shifts. If they hop or slip...no traction.

This is something I didn't know. You see, I'm used to driving low gear cars with alot of torque (GEO Storm GSI) and with my civic, I just felt as if it shifted real good at 2.5k rpm. But whay you guys are saying is safe, then man oh man. Where the hell have I been!
