aside from looks and sales figures, the only lemon i can think of would be the GM 2.8 litre V6... no motor in history could ever match the amount of headgaskets one of those goes through in a year.

luckily they had the Quad4 to redeem themselves with

Wink hm......

i just wanna say one thing, for all of those ppl out there who hype the "muscle car" 2000-01 mustang gt, ur being very stupid, i would belive that civic could beat a gt, why u ask, because, for one very good reason, weight, weight is essential in a race, that civic will take him so badly off the line, the gt would have to use all of it's torque to catch up, even so, the gt would catch up, but, i've seen a civic win, hell, i've beaten a gt, i took him by about 3 carlengths off the line, he just sat there like a stupid rw drive domestic and spun them, and watched as i flew by, now tell me this, how easy is it to catcha up with a almost stock honda accord, easy right?, nope, sorry, not when i'm already at 45mph+ and ur sittin there staring at my lights, now of course he's gonna catch up eventually, becuz they have an unbeliveably tall final gear, but for that 1/6 of a mile, 1/4 mile, he's lookin at my fumes, so all props to those hondas and such that beat these dumb american muscle heads who make fun of us, long live the mighty HONDA!!!!!!! :finger: :bandit: :smoka:

LMAO! That is the funniest sh*t I ever heard. Where do I begin?

A Civic with exh. only is no match for a 00' GT, which is what this thread was posted about. And just so you know, the Mustang only outweighs the Civic by 600lbs which is more than made up for by the 200+lb/ft of torque advantage the 'Stang carries under the hood. Sure a Civic might be able to come off the line ahead, but that lead won't last past first gear.

I'm not a Jap basher, I'm a realist who has built and raced too many muscle cars to buy into rice boy pipe dreams. I've seen Civic's beat GT's too, but those Civic's were no where near stock. My hybrid CRX HF used to run dead even with pony boys on a regular basis, but there was nothing stock about it. So if you did beat a GT off the line by three car lengths it was because the driver obviously didn't know what the f*ck he was doing, not because you Accord is a powerhouse.

As far as that "unbelievably tall final drive gear", what exactly would that be? What's the ratio, and for that matter what's the final drive ratio for the 97' Accord? I'm sure I'll have to wait all day for your response, so you can have time to surf the net and find the answers since you don't know what the hell your talking about.

I drive a Honda now and I know exactly what is capable of, and more importantly, what it isn't. You're right about one thing though, power/weight ratio's are very important in racing. Which is why I drive a Honda now, because with 200 fwhp I will be able to run the qtr in to 13 second territory, and still be able to out handle the bigger and heavier muscle cars in the real world. As for the rest of your post, don't try to serve up a load of sh*t disguised as Honda Pride pie, cause I ain't biting.

what i meant by the whole civic beating a gt thing is, of course a stock ex would get smoked, i meant i've seen modded civics killlin them, and no i don't know the final drive ratio, but i do know that they from what my friends tell me becuz the own them, will beat the hell out of stock camaro's and f/birds because the gt's have no problem with accelerating beyon120 where as my accord will cut out at 120, as for beating him off the line, im pretty sure he sucks as a drive because there is no excuse for that big of a leap , after all he's the one who revved first, o well it goes to show that even though they got the hp and the torque, the best mod for any car is a driver who know's how to work it and take the car to it's limit, i willl admit though, my friend with the gt and i toook it on the highway, i didn't see him for a while:bandit:

Damn you, you bastard.

You just had to bring the Aztec into it. And that 2.8L V6, I had a Jeep with one of those. I think it was one of the worst engines ever made, literally, there was a list. The original only lasted 100,000 and the rebuild only lasted 88,000. What a shitty engine.

You win this one.....

you're a lucky one... i had an 85 Chevy Blazer with that POS motor. first headgasket blew at 47,000 miles. next time was 60,000. motor was replaced at 80,000 miles. the new motor has vacuum leaks all over, gets 5 gallons to the mile (no, seriously), and just refuses to start unless it's 70 degrees and sunny. the tranny is now going out, and doesnt stay in drive.

i hate domestic vs. import battles because I like them both(cept euro, I only like some of themheh)

I drive a Civic and I'm fine with that... When i talk with my 5.0 friend or anyone like that who dislikes imports I try to defend imports, but not go bash domestics since i don't beleive it... I just get painted as a riceboy when i try to defend imports....

worst is when my friend whose family is all dodge(2 caravans, a stratus, and a breeze) tries to bash me and my honda and toyota saying they are shitty.... not saying they make bad cars, but I think dodge is near the bottom of the japanese and american pile

I had an 87 blazer with the 2.8..it had 259,000 miles on it when I handed it over the other owner for $1,500. The clutch was so bad it could hardly move, but the engine was good. I am looking for another one just for old times sake, it was my first car ever and by far the most fun

I just want to load 7 of my buddies in it and go run over some mailboxes like I used to
