You are talking about the "03 GT. The '02-"04 Gt's are considerably faster than the earlier models due to an exhaust rework by Ford in '02.

I wasn't talking about any of these cars. The original post referred to a '96 Cobra and an '01 GT which both run very low 14's.

The 99-04 Mustang GTs all share the same engine, rated at the same power. They all have the PI (Performance Improved) heads, cams, and intake. It was the 96-98 GT that were low in power. The 96-98 Cobras should be slightly faster than the 99+ GTs. I emphasized should because Ive actually beaten a 97 Cobra when I was stock. Like I mentioned before, the DOHC cobras lack somewhat in the low end department. From a roll, I usually get beaten though.

You're correct.

According to Ford's press releases and performance figures on the engines in the 96-99 Cobras, they "should" have been faster.

Ford actually did get into some trouble over mis-quoting the power of the 4.6 on both the GT's and Cobras during those years and I believe in "00 as well.

Glad you got the '03 GT. It's a much better car than the earlier ones. If I still lived in the US, I probably would've bought one after I got rid of my '96 SS.

Like said before 99+ Stangs are better cause of the whole PI head swap package not cause of the exhuast rework learn ya facts.

Next LT-1 Vettes are not pulling 13.2's etc.., unless the track is one where everybody is running almost a .5 faster than normal. An auto LT-1 Vette stock is a mid 13 car at best more on the .6-.7 side of things.
