Re: REVELL ESCALADE pic is up at...

I just recieved the bad news yesterday. The hood is molded shut. No engine detail. However the rear hatch/doors are to open. Apparently to meet the target price they had to tool it sans engine.
I'm dissapointed, but will stil buy a couple of them.

I to your knowledge.
LOL
IT's a shame though. This kit would have been even better with engine detail. Looks like the ol' jeweler's saw will be coming out.

Personally, I don't see what the big fuss is over the lack of an engine in the Escalade. It's not like it's a major feature of the vehicle (it's not a muscle car or exotic), so to me it's just wasting time building an engine that I'd never look at. That time (to me) is better spent on detail I will see...like wheels/tires/etc. This isn't a holy grail for me, by any stretch. Same with that overpriced and somewhat flawed Trumpeter '60 Pontiac that some modelers went nutso over. Doesn't do a thing for me. And I'm old! Okay, I will buy the Nova...if they don't screw it up too badly.

If you want engine detail, hack away using Revell Silverado kit(s) for the stuff you'll need.

I don't think Revell will lose too many sales over the lack of engine. I hope they did add extra rims, and some interior details to make up for it (LCD's, PS2's, NOS/Amps/speaker). I might buy one if the details look good.

If you ask me, the rims look like the ones that come with the Civic kits, only it has an outer lip.

no engine detail is'nt a problem, just a surprise. doing a full detail one is'nt hards at all since its the same as in the Silverado kit.

when the kit was announced last February?. officials from Revell/Monogram said on the Hobby Heaven message board that the kit will include several rims, and some costom interior pieces like LCD TV's and speakers

I agree with you 100% Bob, I'm gonna get a couple Trumpeter Nova's even if they are like the Pontiac. just cause its a new kit of a 63 Nova. but hopefully Trumpeter will learn from there mistakes and the Nova will be the best kit ever

No engine!!! Perrrrrfect! That means, we just chop the front of the caddy and the silverado, and glue them on each other. you'll have a chevy escerado, and a caddy silverade!

Bob, I'm not really making a fuss because of no engine. I'm just surprised at the price point and their not being an engine. I personally would'nt mind having an engine. As I mentioned earlier though, it won't stop me from buying 2 or 3 of them. Just like you said, I doubt it will slow sales down.
Granted swapping the engines from the Silvy would be do-able, but their is still a lot of engine stuff that would ave to be made, engine cover etc...
Tthis will probably be blinged out with all the interior goodies one would suspect in a vehicle of this nature.
I would think Jada will sell a few more of their 1/24 diecast kits just for the wheels.

You could always create a heavily modified motor, and practically change out most of the bits n' pieces in the engine for a custom look.
