Had same overheating problem on my 97 XJ, ended up being a defective
electric auxilary fan that is used for the A/C. Been working like a charm ever since.

Man, this is an old thread...we ought to retire it and start a new one on overheating.
BTW...look at the "Radiator Stuff" thread at the top.
