Re: top speed limiter removal...

the only thing your doing by unpluging those sensors is cutting the info to the ecu to keep it from cutting the gas off right ?

I went to www.hksusa.com today and apparently you have to get a unit for the speed cut (cutting the green and yellow wire works just fine) and for the fuel cut. They are both like 125 or so.

On my 91 it was the green/white stripe wire but I guess it varies from on generation to the next. Cutting the wire ate the ECU is a better idea than the wire at the gearbox...1 because your work is just in the car's interior; 2 because I've heard of road racers doing it that way and loosing the engine in the gears of the wire they cut (no engine damage, it just shuts off in those gears with the cut wire). The 2nd aspect of this may not be true in all models but it is for some.

Re: top speed limiter removal...

But when you cut the speed wire, it only lets you go to about 120. The computer still limits the rpms at about 5k with a fuel cut.

Re: top speed limiter removal...

just get an auto ecu and have no speedlimiter and the rev limit in 5th gear will be 6k like the rest of the gears.

Re: top speed limiter removal...

i removed mine about a year ago all i did was splice one little wire, and wire it to my pop headlight switch so i can turn it on and off when ever i want no problems, no regrets, NO MONEY,NO REV LIMIT, NO FUEL CUTOFF like i posted in about four diff forums on this subject mine works fine i just push the button i have mine wired to when it is about to reach the cut off point and it keeps going and going and going

Re: top speed limiter removal...

im not for sure on the color dont remember but all i did was take some extra wire and conect them to both ends of the wire you cut and run it up beside the shift knob up under the dash and across to the switch. now you will have to disconnect the harness from the switch and take a short wire(about an inch) and cross it between two ef the connecters inside the harness cause the headlights will not pop up unless a connection is made you will have to play with it a little bit to figure out which ones they are just connect two and turn on you lights till the headlights work properly. then do the same with the wire you ran up from tranny you will have to play with this to just plug one wire in and go for a drive on a road with little traffic go slow and plug the other end in diff spots also pushing the button until your speedo drops to zero. your tach should still work, mine does maybe magic cause most people say theres dosent hope this helps some.
