Re: What is "the muscle" of Imports??

Definitely the Supra. A car that can reliably pump out 800rwhp easily is definitely muscle

WTF? Who are you to go around telling people they aren't very smart? A lot of people say the rx-7 is mid engine because the engine is behind the front wheels. I'm not klohig's bitch, I just don't apreciate people going around calling other people stupid for no reason. If you going to say someone isn't smart at least have a good reason for it.

1.) Skyline GT-R
2.) Supra
3.) RX-7
4.) Evo/STI
5.) Probably an older Eclipse GST or GSX... cheap, but with a lot of potential
6.) 350z

This list is ordered by the fact that a jap musclecar, as stated earlier, places A LOT more value on handling than an american musclecar, which is why cars like the 300zx and 3000gt aren't on here

Re: What is "the muscle" of Imports??

a muscle car is a muscle car, not an agile car, if it can also handle, then benefits...so my list is as follows

1)Supra
2)Skyline
3)STI
4)EVO
5)FairLady Z
6)AE86 (like the old school muscle car )

Re: What is "the muscle" of Imports??

This is the dumbest thread ever. There is no Japanese muscle car. The japanese didnt waste their time. Does anyone even know what a muscle car is?

A muscle car, is an intermediate sized, performance oriented model, powered by a large V8 engine, at an affordable price.

i cant wait to own my very own 300zx, but i have heard from a lot of people that it is a very very good handling car. i have even heard that it is one of the best handling cars for its price range. especially with its HICAS (all-wheel steering system, on tt models and some n/a's) and low center of gravity it would handle like a beaut. ill come back to this in a month when i own one.

300zx does handle well and so does the 300gt vr4, just not very many people know much about the vr4 exept what they hear and the 300zx is now forgotten since the 350z is here, when really the 300zx is the same speed as the 350z, though the 300zx is known for having a time of 13.9 while the 350z is more like 14.1

muscle car definition you gave is for american muscle, we are talking japanese muscle. if your car can run less then 14.0 in the 1/4 then obvioulsy your engine is strong=muscle and an eclipse is not a jap muscle, yes it has lots and lots of potential but stock 15.1 isn't very muscle like to me.

Re: What is "the muscle" of Imports??

Well put YoungVr4... exactly, some people think their civics, eclipses, etc are muscle cars. They roll up... stupid heavy Camaro, what is he thinking racing a light-ass Civic, I have intake and exhuast, and stickers... I mean, even a really hooked up civic, or even eclipse i still wouldn't say is"muscle" though the eclipse would be mean. I just wanted to point out that not all Japanese cars are like this, there are the big-dogs out there.

There is no such thing as "Japanese Muscle" Muscle cars are American. Try and find me a website that lists Japanese muscle cars and I will belive you. Until then, I still say there is no such thing.

Re: What is "the muscle" of Imports??

The Japanese make sports cars, and "Rally Inspired" 4 door AWD's...

And if you were gonna name Japan's top performers, how could you forget about the MR's? (MR2, NSX, maybe the Lotus Elise if you consider the origin of the engine)

And the RX-7 is Mid-engine because it lies between the front and rear axle. Just because the engine is infront of you doesnt mean its not a mid-engine...

Re: What is "the muscle" of Imports??

Jesus, read the thread so far. Notice how lame the arguments have gotten? First off, what the hell is a muscle car? Dayna said it correctly, they were intermediate sized NORMAL 2 DOOR SEDANS, that had larger V8s installed to make them drag oriented at an affordable price for someone in their 20-30s.

Ther IS no Japanese muscle car. Muscle cars were not only normal sedans with bigger motors, (that cancels out most of your picks), but were of intermediate size for the time, which would be like maybe a Monte carlo or Malibu sized car today. This also cancels out most of your list. The final clincher on the list is the engines. To get more performance out of a car then, they put a larger engine in it, when's the last time you've seen a Japanese company do that? They just throw turbos on their cars, that's all.

So as Dayna said, and I'm saying, there has never been, and probably never will be, a Japanese muscle car.
